It was way back in October 2010 when the S|C Ambience was reviewed by ScopeRise.  Now we revisit another of the revered LX-Effect family of reverbs and take a look at the SC-Plate.  The LX-Effects reverbs were re-engineered from the famous Sonic Timeworks range and have become classics on the Scope platform.  The Plate reverb is set to mimic the sound of metal plates.  It has a dense, smooth, colored sound that makes it a great choice for enhancing any type of percussion without sounding 'grainy'.  Larger sizes and longer reverb times are particularly effective on vocals and brass, but can be adjusted for use on virtually any sound source.

On investigation I found this reverb had a pleasing three dimensional aspect to it.  The 'In Width' parameter for example could be used to enhance the illusion of the reverberation taking place from some distance behind the listener (me).  In fact applying the S|C Plate reverb as the only reverb in the mix I was able to achieve some realistic spatial results, like lower frequencies being placed behind and below, and higher frequencies (string section) seeming to come from above.  Applied sparingly, the S|C Plate can impart the illusion of space without sounding artificial or digital.  For more variation a pair of LFOs are available which can be routed to most of the other parameters to give more motion and interesting effects.  On orchestral/band material, I tended not to use these LFOs but can see they would have potential in some more electronic genres or material.

RICARDO:  Very nice, the best software plate reverb I've heard.

DAWMAN:  The STW Plate-X is as good as soft verbs get.  It actually wraps around the audio and the wetness can 'push' the image further back in the stereo field.

TIMSTOEL:  I find myself using the SC-Plate a lot for vocals.  The SC-Plate is a real gem.

GARYB:  The SC-Plate is pretty darned nice (thanks Warp69).

YOFRESH:  It is brilliant. I think the best software reverb I've heard so far.

DEHUZSAR:  It took me a couple of days to get mine registered, but I've got it taken care of now and it's AMAZING!!!!

PWABIXCPP: I mean this is really a high pro standard reverb unit.  Wonderful sound and depth.  High end reverb without any discussion needed.  Great job Warp.
