As we look for simplicity in an ever more technologically complex world, we can see how Sonic Core have focused their attention over he last few years.   We look at their history to see how we have arrived at today's vision of 'A New World of Music'.

Meanwhile, back in the present, we explore options for controlling a Scope mix with iPad applications TB-MIDI Stuff and Lemur, both cheap but powerful iPad application for building your own control surfaces.  We also take a belated look at the Scope Vinco compressor, a classic compressor bundled free with Scope 5.x.  Roy Thinnes has been busy as usual and brings to the table a new superb MIDI controlled effects processor called 'FXKeys'.

Ever imagined carrying a Modular synth in your backpack doing live gigs? Late last year Roland Kuit was on the Modular move again and we chronicle his New York trip and gigs with visual participant Karin Shomaker, demonstrating the portable power off the XITE-1. Uncle Sam (Hans Zimmer) pointed the finger at all composer/arrangers in a challenging remix competition, and the Scope user community responded with some formidable entries and interesting variations on Hans' dramatic cinematic soundscape.

All Scope users are now invited to join XITED. Initially a forum for XITE-1 users only but now open to all other Scope users, musicians, arrangers and DAW users wanting to get to grips with DSP technology. Of course we will sell you on the merits of the XITE-1 for music production purposes but even if you don't intend getting one anytime soon, come along anyway.

Sunmachine who brought us the excellent Copperlan article, now shows Scope users how to work with 'Studio One'. So try out 'Studio One Free' (or the demo) and describe in up to 100 words what's good about it to get the chance to win Studio One Professional or a loop pack from Smash up the Studio.  Check out the Studio One article for full details of how to enter.

Sunmachine gives us a timely addition to our DAW integration series with this informative piece on PreSonus Studio One.   We look at history to see how Sonic Core have now become focused on core technologies of their heritage in DSP.   Roland Kuit and Karin Shomaker take a trek to the Big A and confirm there is only 'One Way' to live DSP reliability - XITE-1.   Roy Thinnes does it again by building a great new device for controlling effects live at the flick of a keyboard note.

Try this custom remote iPad mixer for the Scope STM1632.  All made possible using the TB MIDI Stuff customizable interface.   A blast from the past that wont clip but instead add a bit of warmth based on a vintage design from the sixties.   The final in our three part time machine series fills out the remainder of a great series of synthesizers from the eighties.   Hans Zimmer wanted us so we came.  Armed with Scope we were ready and willing to take on the best in composing.
