Thanks a lot for the quick feedback.

More than any concern about whether this will work okay, I'm concerned that I have dumbed it down too much. I'm essentially taking a very powerful DSP system and turning it into dedicated hardware synth. I know folks on this forum know the hardware inside-out ...

SCOPE on separate PC?

I have started building a new PC DAW, and not everything is coming over to the new hardware. My SCOPE PCI cards won't fit, but I thought i might simply keep the old PC and use it to augment the new one.

My new machine is running SONAR 7 and using a Tascam FW-1082 (a control surface with MIDI ...

Yes, I am using a tascam us 428 for IO, which I want to at least continue using as a control surface, and for its headphone amp.

Sheesh, I only got the Luna so I could try out some modular stuff, I'm not prepared to have it affect how I do all my other work.

I suppose I could feed the Luna's ...

I have been using my XTC card for years without any problem, but recently added a Lune (Scope Home, SFP 4.5). When I completed the installation, I could no longer use any of the synths or effects the way I used to. When I load a synth or effect in Cubase SX3, I get a message that says "Luna II ...

Are you responding to me, or the original poster? It was I who mentioned the potential market appeal of XTC, but I certainly didn't flame anyone.

As to your assertion about CW making native VSTi-s, yes I think they would make a boat-load of money. But they would be swimming in the same piracy ...

Wow, this is turning out to be quite a rant!

Funny thing is I agree with the original poster, probably because I bought my XTC card under the same pretense, yet I have a very different attitude. I thought it would be a vital, supported part of Creamware's product range. Didn't work out that way ...

Nope, Creamware just isn't that common here; I've never actually seen it in stores. It's strange, because I live just outside of New York, and it would seem likely that I'd come across it at least once...

I'd consider bulding my own (I've seen threads about the specifics), but it would take just as ...

Grrrr... Just got my Scope Home to add to my XTC card (so I could use Modular III), and it didn't ship with an S/TDM cable. Now I have at least another week to wait...probably longer with the holidays.

JRRShop wants $9.99 for one!

I just purchased a Luna II, that'll do the trick, right?

Unfortunately, at the moment I want to limit myself a little, only because I have too many options. If I rule at least a couple out I hope I can go deeper with the remaining.

I was looking at solaris, but it seems silly to go out and acquire more synths when I need to get a grip on what I already have.

How about Lightwave? Does Vectron make it redundant? Maybe I'm simplifying things based on the fact that they're both wavetables synths...

Thanks for all of the good feedback. I suppose I could add a Luna II so that Modular III becomes an option too, but as it stands right now my problem is too many options.

Is it fair to say I can skip over BlueSynth, Inferno (and EZSynth of course), in favor of the others?

I want to get serious about synthesis, and now with SFP 4.5 (and the synth and sampler package), I have too many synths to deal with.

I have an XTC card, so I can't do Modular III, but I still have too many options in front of me.

Are there any synths that are just not worth investing time into ...

Never mind, I got it. I had to do the dll rename trick, and so I picked a different dll this time. Something must have happened to the previous one. I still have to load it twice, the first time I get an IO error, and asks if I want to reload dsp.
Thanks anyway.

I want to add that Cubase sees the Pro-12.dll but opens an empty Window. The Pro-12.dev file is in the DevicesSynths directory, right next to B-2003.dev which does work.

Hi, just purchased the 4.5 upgrade.

Since I have an XTC card, I don't expect the samplers to work, or Modular II, but I thought that Pro-12 would. B-2003 seems to work ok, as well as Masterberb Pro, but it looks like that's all I'm getting for my 98 euro. Can someone tell me I'm wrong?

Sorry, for the cop-out, but it depends on you.

As primarily a Cubase user, I'm not interested in having to learn another set of tools to do mostly the same thing. Plus, I use other DSP cards (a UAD-1 and PowerCore), and inside my DAW they all work together (along with any native plugs I want ...

I don't know how it works in SX2 anymore (it feels like I had it installed for like a week before SX3 came out).

In SX3, when you freeze an instrument, you have the option of unloading the instrument. When I do that, the DSP load drops down to one bar (which is the same as when I have no XTC plugs ...

Well, it doesn't really matter if they do use a lot of dsp, I'm buying them. My card only has 6 SHARC dsps, but Cubase let's me freeze tracks to free up some power without much effort (a nice little advantage of XTC mode).

Back to the commercially available Wavelength stuff.

I tried out the demos, and it seems like they all chew up a lot more dsp power than the stuff that came with my card. Are these synths just more powerful, or do the creamware developers just do a better job optimizing?
