Nevermind. I see you just click directly on the name and it allows you to rename it.

As other posts say, this is a difficult program to use...

I figured as much, but I don't see an option to do that. When I right click on it, I don't see "rename" as a choice.

How do you do it?

Got another (most likely) dumb question:

I'm creating a program of guitar note samples so I can do midi stuff with it. The program I'ved created is called guitar.sts. When I load it, why does it say NEW PROGRAM? Why won't it list it as guitar in the program list?

just wondering...

Ahhh, found the mysterious "FileBrowser". Drag-and-drop, just like that. Who would've thunk it?

Now, let's see if this terd will do what I think it will.

I just started experimenting with the 3000 last night. I know the interface is somewhat complicated. I'm having trouble figuring out how to import .wav files to be used as samples. Am I missing something?

I know, new program -> key group -> zone. If you right click, you can create a new sample. Do ...

Solid, I enjoyed it.

Did you mix/master only with scope/sonar?

Those are the tools I use, and it would give me something to shoot for if I could produce a similar sound as yours!

no changes to the existing tracks with the latest post...all mastering-type mods. i tried to brighten things overall, remove the mud, experiment with optimaster, improve apparent sound level. still could use some work, but i think i'll move on for now. thanks for your time! New version posted. I eq'd the lows out of the guitar, tried to bring the vocals out a little more, backed off the reverb from the vocals to try and remove some of the blurriness, replaced the organ with a pad synth and put that in the background (eq'd that some too), added a simple guitar solo. The ...

All,

I'm struggling a bit with acquiring some basic mastering skills. If anyone has some good links they would be willing to share on the subject it would be much appreciated!

I find that after I've spent several hours with a song, it's hard to remove myself from the sound I've become accustomed ...

All,

Thanks for your responses. I think anyone who takes the time to download a song and crtique it deserves a gold star!

emzee: I agree, it needs a better mastering job. I am going to try to eq out some of the lows of the guitar and organ. I tried to do a final mix eq and to me, that result ...

Tom: Thanks for the explanation about the master clock through BNC.

symbiote: bottom line is if I'm happy with the quality of the on-board a/d's, the A16U via adat will match or exceed that without the master studio clock?

Just to make sure I have semantics right...

wordclock = sync between Pulsar II and A16 (can be achived with adat or zlink) Set one of these to master.

using sync = high quality recorded audio

This clock is generated by either the A16 or Pulsar?

thanks

Sync problems using adat i/f sounds a little scary, especially if you're paying $1000+ for this (just guessing at the cost). Would you say there is no sync problems if CLK is set up properly with master/slave with Pulsar?

I do a fair amount of acoustic stuff (record at 24 bit/44.1 kHz). I would ...

Greetings all,

I have a query about the A16 ultra. I currently have a Pulsar II card (with adat interface, no z-link) and have only used the 2 on-board a/d's. I've seen other postings here that say the z-link is a better interface to the A16 than the adat i/f.

What's the reason to say that? Is it ...

Thanks. As an aside question, what do you think of optiMaster? Does it give your final mix more volume? (I know what the manual says it's supposed to do)

I saw in a previous thread that magix music studio 2005 may be used as a decent mastering tool. Anybody else use that with good results ...

I'm another Cubase user who prefers mixing in SFP. My question is: once the mix is in SFP, what tool do you use to produce your final stereo mixdown? Is there an economical approach that still sounds professional?

The way I have been doing it is to bring my final stereo mix back into Cubase, mute ...

I don't own VDAT, so I can't speak intelligently about its details, but I do understand its purpose. An earlier post said that once you edited a file outside of VDAT, that it couldn't be played by VDAT anymore.

My idea with VDAT is to keep sample generation and processing within Scope. I'm learning ...
