Have you checked your PC for heating problems ? I have an ASUS-board myself and they come with "ASUSProbe" for checking temperatures etc. That would be my first guess.

Also, what kind of power supply do you have (how many watts) ? You don't have that many cards in the DAW so it shouldn't be a ...

Please list your system configuration with make and model (motherboard, CPU, memory, HDs, all PCI & AGP cards, OS including any service packs).

Also, run the program "MSInfo32" from Start/Run and copy/paste the info from the IRQ-usage tab into a post here.

That would give some more info and we ...

Hmm, maybe I've found the reason...

I the windows registry, SFP started with the -s parameter (telling it to be hidden?) so I tried removing this and restart PC.

Now - the first time I boot - I get a SFP dialog asking for registration keys !?! (By the way, the dialog does NOT say what the key is ...

Hey at0mic, thanks for the fast response.

No, I never see any error messages when opening the Startupproject. So maybe this is not the "usual" hang problem?

I have a Yamaha 02R96 connecting to the pulsars with both adat opt and spdif coax. The problem seems to occur both when using SFP as slave or ...

I haven't been using my DAW much last year, but now when I get back to the thing, I run into problems and I feel like a fool who don't know **** about it...

I have SFP4 installed, and I use two Pulsar II cards with it.

It seems my Startup project hangs VERY often (more than half the times I ...

Not to be a greedy b@stard, but I was thinking... ... since I have two Pulsar II cards, would that grant me the choice of both MixnMaster & Synth packages ?

Even if they sit in the same machine ?

Spacef,

What is your mail-address that we should use to contact you ?

The one in you Planet Z profile does not seem to be a real mailacct.

I ordered the plugin a few days ago but haven't received any download links etc...

I'm interested in what settings you guys have with Cubase SX diskbuffers, priority & audio settings, as well as what SFP ULLI settings you use for different scenarios.

I have Cubase SX 1.06, and did some testing with my DAW PC today:

The test is about how many audio-tracks I can record - at the ...

Interesting info there, Bassdude & Valis, thanks !

BTW, I think increasing bitdepth to 32bits in Windows made the GUI a bit faster... kind of usable now at least...

Hmm, about GUI... wasn't there some setting in SFP (starting with v3.x) to have the "classic" gui rather than the new livebar & routing window ?

I'm not at my studio now, so can't check...

Maybe that would solve some of the lagging.

Thanks for the hint of Vectron Tom, I'll check it out.

BTW ...

Cool Gary ! Do you have any links where I can read more about it ?? It's nice to see how others have set up their stuff, so one can dream for a little while...

I understand your comparison to the vintage gear, and I think we just talked "passed" each other. What I meant was that the I/O part ...

Thank you Decimator & Spirit for some useful feedback !

Regarding Absynth & Reaktor, I never bought the products until the latest releases (Absynth 2 & Reaktor 4), which I simply couldn't resist. Absynth is truly wicked if you're after textures & evolving soundscapes. Reaktor is real evil in terms ...

dArKr3zIn, I'm in no way obsessed with the latest "buzz". As most project studio owners I've sure spent a minor fortune on all kinds of things, but I'm no "hype-junkie".

I'm only trying to make the best decision I can about how to move forward with the setup I have. Is it not justified to do this ...

Not if I use the two Pulsar II's for full ADAT lightpipe right ?

Then both cards hardware must be taken into count when thinking about latency and jitter.

So, when it comes to I/O and routing, what would happen in my case ?

If the old card is bad for my setup, I could very well replace it with a ...
