Consider this solved.
The audio playback problems got sorted once I changed the audio disk from system disk to my... well, audiodisk.
Reaper handled poor disk performance really weirdly. What lead me to the right track was when I decided to try Sonar instead. There the symptoms of insufficient ...

Re: SFP maxes CPU and ADAT sync lost when it happens
The saga continues. Now the remaining card locks to external & internal sync ok and the computer records 16 channels of audio simultaneously. The problem now is garbled playback.
I'm using Reaper as a DAW, and am quite new with it (but not DAW:s in general). Is there any specific gotchas I should ...

Re: SFP maxes CPU and ADAT sync lost when it happens
And here we go... I removed the other card and it's working as it's supposed to.
The bummer here is that now I have 16 adat channels i/o and 24 channel hd recorder.

Re: SFP maxes CPU and ADAT sync lost when it happens
Thanks, Garyb!
I check the automatic updates. I think I turned them off when I removed the network card from the system, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
Also, I need to start checking if the cards are faulty. Too bad I have them soldered together (TDM). But I can undo that and do it again ...

SFP maxes CPU and ADAT sync lost when it happens
This is my problem. I'm running an old 2* Pulsar I -setup with 2.4 Ghz P4 (845pe max2 SFIR -chipset) and Windows xp sp3. The machine has had these cards for aeons. Now, after a break I'm in need to get this working as I need to transform stuff from HD24XR.

Re: serching for STDM cable
If you decide to go with the Thomann - route, be adviced that the shipping fee is solid 20€ per shipment. So if you need a piano to go with the cables, there will be no more shipping costs for the whole purchase.
20€ shipping for cables only is a bit much, but if you need something else too...

I did send you a message. Actually I send you a notification. In that I also explained why I want to have this deleted.
If you did not get it, you still seem to get the point I'm trying to make without even reading the whole thing through. I really appreciate that.

Yeah, I'm the dick and a girl here. And you are all mad at me. I did not say that. I am the one who has the nerve to be pissed here for everybody stat ing that my price request is too low. By doing so you tell to the potential seller they should not sell to me with this price. Tell me this:
Why ...

Re: ADMINS! DELETE THIS THREAD
No it wont. But it will take this thread away.
I'm not even going to start a new one.
Sick and tired of all of you.
Have your cake and eat it.
And to speed up the deletion, I'll write up something in Finnish. It may be extremely offensive. Or not.

Re: Wanted: A16 - NOT ULTRA / trade my a16 for adats
What we are talking here is old stuff. For some it is useless junk, for others the same stuff is needed or valuable items. There is no such thing as fixed value in used gear. You might get more, you might get less. And your preferences might be rather "I want a good price, and can tolerate a longer ...

I asked the moderator to remove this thread. After this is removed I will post another. I'm trying to buy A16 and this thread is not going to make it happen. Even if someone would be willing to sell with the price I am willing to pay, he will not after reading this through.

Re: Wanted: A16 - NOT ULTRA / trade my a16 for adats
True. And 50€ is what you pay for a decent meal, not a price of 4 shark dsp card that was over tousand euros new back at 1998.
And 4€ is what you pay for a pack of cigarettes. And WAY too much to pay for a Dyaxis system that was over 10000 euros new back at the dawn of man.
Offence taken, I have to ...

Re: Wanted: A16 - NOT ULTRA
I doubt that you'll get an A16 on PlanetZ for 50-100 dollars unless it needs repaired,
If I don't advertise I'm in need of one, I will definitely not. But that's why I do.
I bought my second Pulsar mk1 from here. The negotiated price was 50€ including international shipping. It's not so far off ...

Re: Wanted: A16 - NOT ULTRA
Since my thread is converting to a debate about the streetprices and the justification of them, I think I need to rephrase myself yet again.
I still am willing to buy one with the terms stated above. But if there's actually a market for these 'vintage status' converters that justify the price of ...

Re: Wanted: A16 - NOT ULTRA
I said I would pay up to 100€ for a good unit. It may be old, it may have the best sound ever in 16bit converter league. It may have been made entirely by hand and with best components available at the time.
All irrelevant.
It is still 16 bit converter in a world where 24 bit is a standard. And it ...
