I went into control panel/sounds and found that Creamware Play/Rec 1 selected. I tried Creamware selecting Play/Rec 2 and all came back to life. The files that I am playing are known to be good. The computer has stopped playing any sounds (apart from Asio) even the windows clicks when enabled cannot be heard.
