I also have exactly this problem with Wave Drivers and playback in any "Wave-driver-related" program:
- Wavelab 4.x
- Winamp
- Windows Media Player
- Irfan View 3.x

ASIO works fine.

Yes, I also guess that the cooler was a bit too small for the AMD 2400. This could also explain, why the performance was going down more and more over a period of several days.
The new ASUS board with the Barton 3000 and a large Arctic Cooler runs perfectly!

Yes, for a couple of days it was a solution to put the bus down to 100/133. The AMD 2400 was then a AMD 1800 (like before the upgrade  ). Cubase found its dongle but dropouts appeared more and more often.
But why did it work with the full power for about 4 weeks?
Really strange...

Complete re-installation already tried. Same errors. Also copied some older - working - disk images back.
Problems started with upgrading the CPU from a XP 1800 to a XP 2400.
But, if the CPU should be corrupted, nothing should be working, right?

Nevertheless, I've ordered a new mobo:

Hi,
It's been a long time since I posted here something.
Now, after 1 1/2 year of happy music making with the configuration below, a serious problem occured.
The dongle of Cubase SX 2 isn't recognized anymore when the Pulsar I+SRB cards are installed.
The dongle is not corrupted, 'cause I tested it ...

Thanks!
Yes, my old A16 crashed as I ran the Headphone-Amp with two mono cables for some weeks.
So I will not do this mistake again with the A16 Ultra.

I've connected to my A16 Ultra both balanced and unbalanced cables.
The balanced ones for Mic (in), Compressors (in) and active monitors (out)
The unbalanced for synths (in), Headphonme-Amp (out) and Hi-fi Amp (just as a 2nd monitor source, out)

Someone told me, that the resistors of the A16 don't ...

Thanks for the replies.
The solution was easier than tought.
I put the A16 on top of a large rack synth, which is used not so often and doesn't become much warm.
The large metal plate of the synth expander puts the heat of the A16 away.
A16 is not a BBQ oven anymore.

Hi,

I've got an A16 Ultra and put it into a wooden desk which has a rack for 19" units.
Left and right there is about 2-3 mm space between A16 and desk, and above and below of the A16 there is 12 mm.

I noticed that the A16 becomes rather warm.

Questions:
Is 2-3mm space enough for the ventilation ...

Hi,

I just installed a WD 40 GB EIDE ATA-100 into my Pulsar computer.
Before there was a IBM 20 GB ATA-66.
I copied the contents of the old HD to the new with the included WD copy tool.

Windows XP is working normally.
All programs start like before, just much faster!

But Pulsar keeps saying its ...

After installing a DVD-drive in a stable XP system (yes, i know "never touch a running system") the CD-burning process is damaged.
I just swapped the CD-rom for the DVD drive.

For about two weeks everything worked fine.

But now, every time I start Nero 5.5.5.1 it shows different burning speeds ...

There is a known bug in SX >1.02
The master meters always show +60 db(!) when you use the 32float ASIO devices of Creamware.
It has to be a bug in Cubase because SX 1.0 and 1.01 worked fine.

I also work with Pulsar I and the Audiobahn A16 Mark 1 (20bit).
Nevertheless I always use 32float in Cubase SX because I like the TrueTape sound and digital clipping doesn't bother me anymore.

Yes, there are a lot of audio data redundant but for me I like the headroom and TrueTape sounds good.
