How to connect external hardware FX?

I want to use my alesis qudroverb 2 as an external fx. It has a-dat connection. Any suggestion how to incorporate it in the sfp project.

load the Adat destination module in your project window, connect an effect send output of the mixer to that module, connect the ext fx at the ADAT card's port, load the ADAT source module in your project and connect it to a send receive input of your mixer.
Like in the real world...

You can also use the "External Effect" module to load the ADAT I/Os right into an insert slot. No routing window necessary.

I usually find it simpler to route that stuff on dedicated lines and mix the return parallel to the original source, possibly with a micromixer in front of the adat out.

It's not difficult to setup, so if it didn't work as expected this could relate to sync setup of the external device or simply messing up the channel numbers.

Fellow Pulsarians,
Scope has some phenominal FX available, i.e. Celmo Tape Sim, Phaza, etc.
I find that I can load up more FX, and EQ, if I sp/dif out to a Lexicon MPX-550. Plus the Reverbs that I like, seem to saturate the PCI buss, and I can't seem to get the pure liquid sound of my sexy-lexy.
On the issue of latency, it is impercievable. Could be a little natural pre-delay.

No Alesis Quadraverb I've ever seen has an ADAT connection...

For verbs and delays, outboard latency is generally imperceivable (depending on your ULLI settings). However if you use an outboard dynamics or EQ type device, you *will* notice the latency when plugging the return in parallel to the source signal. Even at minimum ULLI setting you can hear a "guitar phaser pedal" effect running a signal through an outboard compressor, and then mixing the compressed signal together with the original signal.

If your signal chain is strictly serial (e.g. compressing the mix bus) you'll have no latency problems.

great rule of thumb keep the signal chain strictly serial
you may have latency, but without problems

the phase cancellation problems of a parallel signal path are even there by the hardware alone.
10-20 samples (0.25 - 0.5 ms at 44k) are unavoidable and easily spoil the result...

Outboard latency has nothing to do with ULLI settings AFAIK, except if you route the signal from and to an ASIO app.

Q2 and Q20 are 2 processors using ADAT connections, a nice one to have in a scope setup!

Exactly, even with my old Pulsar1 with 13ms latency through ASIO, Scope and outboard gear all run close to 0 latency. I wire up Korg ER-1 going into scope out through Alesis A6 filters then back into scope through spacef Echo34...without any latency i can find...glorious!

of course, an ad/da converter(a16 ultra, behringer ada8000)will connect to adat and make a patch bay......

Exactly what I do...i've got the ADA8000 + a Fostex VM88 running via the Pulsar1. 16 ins + 16 outs (with monitor mixing on the VM88). I use the wolf 8to1 switch to do switching...very light on my 4 dsp card...

The Korg ER-1 and Alesis A6 have audio-in, so I have very flexible switching as to what goes where. Add in scope devices (Echo, Vinco, EQ), and then some VST based instruments (GPO, CS-80V) and you have the best of all worlds!

Same deal with midi - BCR2000 controlling (with midi out back to the leds rings on the knobs).

All tied together very nicely with Live 5.

Just have to stop playing with the toys and get on with making some music

In my opinion, one of scope's main selling point has allways been the flexible no latency routing with external gear.
But I guess we are all more ore less convinced by this on this board

That's why I'm back on this platform (after having leaved it for some years)
