Yes Csound is difficult but not impossible. I do not use it for everything but as a accompaniment to Pulsar. Also I use it because it is free and even though I make decent money for a Indian I make modest money by western standards. Obviously if I could afford it I would use Kyma or a full Scope system for sound design instead.
Here is a link for the Csound Book which I would recommend trying to browse first at a bookstore because it is a expensive book. It is not a very well written book but it is the only one to try and give a complete overview of Csound.

If a person is patient and keeps their expectations low at first I think that with time great things can be achieved with Csound, I have only just started myself last year and have much more learning ahead of me.

Just tunig in on your discussion here. Vishnu if you want free soundsoftware to make strange stuff with perhaps "Pure Data" is something for you:

It's developed by the same man originally behind Max/MSP and it has certain simularities, but is it's own.
Anyways just a suggestion.

Oh thank you very much Petal actually I just started using Pure Data recently. It's nice but I just downloaded it last month so I have not done that much with it yet.
There is also Bidule which is similar to Pure Data but it is not going to be free anymore unfortunately but I it's not bad software. - http://www.plogue.com/index.php?option= ... &Itemid=35
