This is a song I made about a year and half ago in a single session using bass, guitar and pulsar . After that my hands were badly hurting from turning al those virtual knobs... kind of dub that got some humor. Never finished it. And its inspired by The Theme (Miles Davis). I like it, but till now I only cared about melody, idea caind of things.
Now I want it to sound good, maybe rerecord evrything.
Comments welcome. What du you think this tune could use?
Thanksalot

hm, I wouldn't start with looking for new sounds too fast

Instead I would bring a lot more refinement into the arrangement, just with the nice parts you have.

You could edit the hihats and other drum elements, make nice (other) 'breaks', etc.

If you're then satisfied, you know better what you might need more

This way you have the smallest risk to drift away from the original idea
It's a nice track, but there's enough to do to get it more natural sounding, I mean the flow as a whole.
cheers.

hm - Dub or Genesis (?)
needs a bit sorting out imho (which direction), but I have to admit that almost any kind of 'crossover' isn't my cup of tea.

It's hilarious but the staccato guitar has a delay on it which makes it seem out of sync.

I don't think music has to fit into a category.

you're right Braincell - that was a rather unfortunate expression by me.
It wasn't meant in a restrictive manner or that everything has to fit a certain box.

But 'typical' style elements adress the listener in a certain way which is usually intended (why else would one apply a style then ?)
to say it with an example: it will work to include a Bach tune (or sample) in a dance track - but it will not work to dominate a dance track by Bach figures.

the track here is nicely played and recorded, but it doesn't catch me due to the 50/50 mixture - as said, a very subjective (and individual) impression

cheers, Tom
