Has this parade been a tradition? I heard about something similar involving mainly classical musicians from a friend from Norway. She said they did it each Spring and it was a hoot. The older people all thought they were crazy.... every year.

well, norway was in union with denmark until 1814. we celebrate our "independence day" on 17. of may to celebrate our constitution which was signed that date.

however, at the same time we parted with denmark, sweden took military actions (!) to secure a new union; a union between norway and sweden. this union lasted until we finally had a vote 13th of august 1905, and votes counted to 368 208 against the union and 184 voted for the union.

women was not allowed to vote, but 250000 women signed a list against the union which was delivered to our goverment.

ups - I somehow hope you missed the 11 o'clock show. It was one of those fortunately more and more rare "off-shows". The other 6 shows - mall, mall twice, cruise ship, departure hall, ferry - went nice. It was a great tour. The Fjordline people really treated us nicely all the way through. Now we just hope they sell a lot of ferry tickets to the Aalborg Karnival, so they feel it was a good investment and want us back again next year (x-ing fingers).
