You know, there are many of them and they are all the time being updated... well, I am not truly reffering to those you update so often... I am talking rather to those plugins you like as they are, and would like to keep it just like this forever...

I truly love the VirsynthTera, I think this is a tremendous powerful software, and I love it because the sound is quite particular and beautiful. It is by all means one of my preffered VST plugins ever.

I also love the Delay-Lama, it makes me laugh quite offen, and it sounds quite interesting too. But this is most a musician's toy of course.

Which are your preffered ones and why?

i only own/use three - M-Tron, impOSCar and Oddity. Why? Well as a Sixties child (just) i love prog rock so i always wanted that sound but not the cost, maintenance or space required for a real one. Plus you get loads more sounds (you only get three on a real 'Tron). Sounds great though B-2003's Leslie.

impOSCar i have as a replacement for my real OSCar, even though i still own him he may be going to another studio (for space reasons), plus the virtual one has lots of cool new features, and is less likely to throw a wobbler!

Oddity i have because i always wanted that lead sound of Gary Numan and Billy Currie - again a cost/maintenance issue. Also i like the duo mode/authenticity of this over Prodyssey.

Everything else i use synth/effect-wise comes from SCOPE (of course).

for me, it's microtonic drum machine. Dunno why, it's not that the sound is particularly heavy duty, but it's one of those things that find its way into your workflow, and stay there. Great performance for the price too.

* Absynth - because it fits everything I do and is always hearable in a heavy loaded arrangement;
* reFX Claw - for its sharp and fat sound;
* dfx skidder - for what it does (something like a tremolo but with many faders to tweak and it's 100% synchronized with my Logic's clock)
* EXSP24 - for very fast patch managing and ease of use. Also for the very good Logic/EXSP integration.

Definitely the EXP24 sampler in Logic. It has been my work horse ever since I bought it.
Are we listening?..

I'm surprised... there are so many good samplres out there... Why have you chousen this one particularly? Don't you preffer Halion or Sampletank, or Kontakt? Those are suposed to be much powerfull than the one you use.

I forgot to name a superb VST plugin called Edirol Orchestra, it is magnificent for orchestral works, quite close to the real sounding classical orchestra. I tryed it for a few days and was amazed.

EXS24 and EXSP24 are very different things - EXSP is a player for EXS files only.. you can't create your own. EXS24 is Logic-only - the editor for the samples is integrated into Logic itself.

EXS24 is a pretty good sampler, although the editor could be a bit more 'friendly'.

Sampletank is not a sampler* - it only plays proprietary samplebanks.

Kontakt isn't bad, although the resampling quality is pretty awful (I haven't tried Kontakt 2.x). Halion is one of the worst pieces of software I have ever tried.

If anyone is into creative sampling (i.e. loading your sample and messing around with it and creating new sounds out of it) then you should check out ShortCircuit.

*I know that none of these is the 'classic' definition of a sampler - i.e. an instrument which records audio as well as plays it back.. however this is pretty irrelevant these days when you can get pretty advanced audio editors such as Audacity for free.

Native Instruments Battery - use it for drums, and sometimes fx samples too. Works great, altough I should update it to version 2 sometimes which looks even better.

Linplug/Rob Papen Albino 2 - A great synth and very versatile.

Sonicbytes ERA - very full-featured step sequencer plugin. Great to control synths but also to control Battery. Much better than using Cubase drum edit.

Digital Fishphones BlockFish and Endorphin - two great compressor plugins. Blockfish is good for single sounds, mainly used for drums and loops. Endorphing is a very nice dualband mastering compressor/limiter/saturator. They're both free too.

SIR impulse reverb - been toying with this the last couple of days and it sounds great. I'd still like to get the Warp reverbs but with my old Pulsar one I get way too many PCI overload errors to make reverbs on scope worthwile.

I'll probably buy ImpOscar soon, since it's now so cheap.

Recently got BFD and love that I can use my own (or any for that matter)midi drum tracks and get such great sounds and flexibility.

More and more I get in love with Kontakt 2, very powerful, cleaned up compared to version 1.x. It still loads your samples into a semi modular system with lots of modulation capabilities, all kinds of lfo´s, filters, step sequencers etc.
Version 2 has now a script module, to build for example, an arpeggiator and other midi tools.
It goes surround, has a nice surround panner, by the way it has a lovely convolution reverb and a 15GB library.

Second I like is Absynth3, sound good as always and looks really nice. All in one window now, also surround functions and it can be used as a effect unit for live input.

Reaktor of course, great sound for my taste and the users are somehow mad, they build many strange instruments with it, that fits to my music.

Battery2 comes up with many kits(classic, electromFX and other styles). It can use a direct from disc stream (DFD) now.

The Kjaerhus classic effects are free and great, also their gold plugs are nice.

So many great VST instruments. I wish I could have them all.

SIR impulse is a must have and free.

I like garitan personal orchestra a lot.

From what I read Absysnth is on my wish list.

I heard a piece Kensuguro did with microtonics which sounded intricate. That is something I find missing from a lot of drum tracks I hear including mine.
