Wow guys, I’m pretty surprised, as this one IS exactly my base, same look as the Picture here:

It is the same model, but even better for me, as it has been made in partnership with Washburn, and the trademark is Washburn-Status.

The whole name is: Washburn Series 1000, Status.

I have to agree that the pick ups are of magnificent quality and the sound is superior.

Playability is the best I’ve felt in a neck ever, that is why I have chosen this baby against hundreds of other bases I’ve tried before it.

Of course, this is the one I'm going to use to record the samples.

Truly, though, that looks like a very solid plank to spank, Nestor.

I've haven't found the right graphite bass for me yet, but it's certainly a profound choice of material for low notes.

I suppose after digital and analog instruments you get organic ones, which wooden basses are. Many are just driftwood, many are OK and a few are magical.

What i like about these is how they get juicier as they get older, as you play them in - anyone who picks up my old Fender gets this look on their face, and things flow easily. Next time i see them they want to pick it up again and play it.

I still wanna Status, though!

And THE sound! I have looked for long time a bass with such sound. You'll see that slapping is a killing sound, once I have finished the library. BTW, as you will participate, of course the library will be free for you…

Definitely! Get ready your Tuba and make it shine with a nice clean piece of soft clothe, there is some serious grooves to be done! Tuba, this is what I thought, and will be PM you tomorrow.

BTW Nestor.... I LOVE the tone of a graphite bass. Clarity throughout.......But remember the reason for these samples.....charge Wayne double if he adds Tuba. He's trying to "make it" as a Tuba player.

@ emzee: thanks for the hint with the cheapo basses action - it's really not that bad.

But you have to pull quite a bit to make it spill it's tones, while the Status thing only needs a slight tap to sustain to infinity - and the latter had a crazy amount of harmonics I'd never expected from a bass

But there ARE tones the wooden thing can do, which the graphite is not capable of - it's probably what Wayne experiences (in better quality of course) with his Fender and Musicman.
So the cheapo will have it's use even if I'll get a better one eventually, not to mention that SFP makes it really easy to adjust the tone as desired. I never understood why people spent a small fortune on a few electronic parts and treat a resistor/cap netwaork like black magic

of course another vote for the Tuba - the icing on the cake

MORE ABOUT THE SAMPLES

Participants told me they already have a good “traditional” sampled E-Bass, and that they would prefer for me to concentrate in making loops. I too think I would probably spend better my time at offering you exiting loops, than building up something you already have. What’s you opinion please?

I have done a good research about “which” should be the standard bass sound to be used all through the library, (with some variations in EQ) and I have already got THE sound. It will suit everybody. I’ve got a new set of strings, too, and a crispy accurate sound and tune are with me.

Files are going to be 24bits instate of 32bits, as suggested by Alfonso, so everybody can use it in different realms, sequencers and samplers.

I have my presets done, and of course, they have all been built up using Celmo’s BAM: Bass Amp Modeller!

If you have new ideas or suggestion you want to see included in this work, you should let me know soon, as I have already got started and the first loops will be recorded from today and on. You have time till next 29th of May for new ideas and additions, Cheers.

Some of the participants have asked more loops, and very few have asked me to build the sampled instrument. I will do the sampled instrument as well, as nevertheless, it will be useful, at least in terms of having a different bass than the ones you already have, even if they are of high quality. What a challenge!

Wayne ...your mate Jackie has gashed his arm or something ,he even got a mention of the injury in the Sydney Morning Herald so it might be serious .If you call him ask him about the Greeks club in Melbourne before he and the rest of the boys in Sirius could speak English .
and finally welcome to the club astro ,it's a dirty devious low life club " The Bassplayers Gonads" but we have fun and obviously have excellent taste in souncards .The acid pro's are a pretty good learning tool ,I dont know which version started letting you import album trax but being able to hold the pitch ,loop it and slow it down is pretty useful ,and ,if the bass sticks you'll go through the roughy you got like a knife through butter.

Nestor, I've run into a couple of very full weeks (2 short films + the usual 3 gigs a week) so I'll probably have to do it after that.

So, when it happens, I'll do maybe ten or a dozen one-bar bass riffs doubled on '72 Mirafone CC tuba & '72 Jazz, separate mono 24-bit. Is that cool?

I suppose folks who have reserved a set with Nestor could PM me with requests as well, in the interest of user-friendliness.

It's funny that Jackie Orszaczky made his way into this thread - he introduced me to using these two instruments in unison

He won't be playing bass for a while, and there was a benefit gig in Sydney for him last week.
Here, on Jackie's site, there are some mp3 examples of his music - scroll down to "brass ensemble" and I'm there too, playing a borrowed tuba, and sometimes doubling his jazz bass.

I especially like "Blueberry Hill/Donna Lee"
