Hi, Creamware people.
What's wrong with my new Pc?
I have now 600 Mhz more, compared with my previous CPU, hyperthreading and all, but I had to lower ulli settings to 12 ms at 48 KHz to avoid clicks

Prescott 3GHz
Intel 915p chipset
2x512Mb DDR2 dual channel (TwinMos)
2x80GB serial ATA HDD in raid 0 mode
Ati X600p 128MB ddr video card
Win Xp sp1
All unused devices and services disabled
(no shared IRQ for CW board)
This my current machine.

garyb is right to ask about RAID, Raid0 only gives you one large volume across both disks. The minor performance gains aren't really worth the increased failure rate imo--rather than 1 drive failing losing the data for that drive, if a drive fails you lose the full RAID volume. Its something that's really for gamers who are impressed by level load times increased by a few percentages (or servers but that really requires 'proper' RAID). Also its very sensitive to stripe size. More info here: http://www.anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=2101
Have you tried disabling Hyperthreading in the BIOS to see if that is affecting performance (it can)? Have you monitored your Prescott cpu's temperature during working loads to make sure that its not throttling the speed back? Perhaps your PCIe graphics card is adversely affecting performance?
I heard raid 0 it's not SCSI, but it may give better disk performances; I remember the OS intallation was pretty fast on this system; as well as the SFP 4 installation...
If I've a single disk and it fails I'll equally lose my datas. After all I think it can handle more audio tracks than a single IDE.
Yes I monitored the Cpu temperature using Asus pc probe utility and it's normal.
I'll try to disable hyperthreading and I'll test the hardware (by an evaluation copy of Sandra; do you know more fitting free test software?).
I hope the matter be not PCIe; no AGP slot on this motherboard.
What's your ULLI settings and what's your hardware guys?

i can do 3ms although i keep it a 4ms.
i have an older style p4,5123cache 3.2g, intel d850mvl with 2gb rambus(2 of them actually)..
all of the other machines i have built do the same(various mobos from d865perl to custom dellw/ intel 865 and 875 chipsets).
i believe that the pcie slot should NOT cause problems with an intel chipset. but the wrong driver or an old bios or not having chipset drivers properly installed might...did you try turning off hyperthreading?
you are not helping yourself with raid(although i don't know that it's causing problems either). a server or gamer configuration may not be best for audio, no matter what some article sez.....

I heard many people go right with hyperthreading, but I'm gonna try to disable it.
I've latest bios and drivers and I didn't have error maessages or strange behaviour during installation; I've installed chipset drivers, then CW drivers, then Ati drivers;
however I've disabled some XP services, carefully, but without full knowledge about..
Does your advice is to convert the array in two single IDE units?
Intel ICH6R couldn't be a bad raid controller

I've monitored it, but the Prescot thermal management never let it go over temperature reducing clock cycle...

No, it should automatically detect the card's new latency. Using XTC plugins, let it detect the VST plugins again, cos all their latency will have changed too, and that is not automatically updated. Then you can continue using proper PDC.
Searching for updates I've discovered new bios, chipset, raid controller and graphic card drivers; fresh versions; all dated June 2005.
I'll try 1 item x time and let u know
I tried out hyperthreading and is for me not usefull, less power than without ht.
So you dont need ht for making music.
Maybe im wrong but for me is better without.
ASUS P4P 800 SE,Northwood P4 3 ghz,1gb ddr 2.
Bios, chipset and vga drivers updated now (evenctually Asus site restored download link for new bios).
I also reinstalled SFP 4 from the CD come with Scope home+Luna box bundle, only just arrived.
I didn't yet test it for a long while, but all seems to go quite better now.
Ulli settings at 4ms 44,100 Hz; I still have some click playing some tracks while I open or close windows, but not every time I do it; however Asus PC probe was running in background in recording mode, cause I'm still monitoring temperatures.
Once again I haven't been so patiencefull and I've installed the updates all together, so don't know which was the critical one...
Not yet tryed to disable HT.
