This may be obvious to many of you, but to those who, like me, keep forgetting the lessons learned during bad times:

Make sure you have the necessary backups of your Scope installation before upgrading!

Why? Well, my upgrade to 4.5 didn't go to well and I ended up getting a looping SFP.EXE process. So I decided to reinstall my SFP and forgot that I had one or two things in there that should have been saved (namely, the dsp files needed for the Zarg Solaris exists in more or less all of my projects nowadays).

Just a small reminder. Plus I can turn my frustration to something good.

thanks for listening.

agree with you devo.
I did copy C:SFP4 to another location,
but since upgrading went well,
everything looks to be in place,
also Zarg moduls.
...but you never know.

'scuse the daftness, but my 4.5 upgrade won't work - can't click 'next' even after importing the 'allkeys' file they sent me...?

Ahaa, changing the Install directory from the default C:/SFP (and existing) folder to a new C:/SFP45 folder did the trick

If this is what it says to do in the installation instructions somewhere please forgive me!

Is it necessary to upgrade at all - apart from the new number (and apparently directory to further confuse things) isn't it the same as reinstalling? - same drivers same everything.

Is it possible to just install the new plugins - the mixers, verb, new eq etc without updating the whole Scope?

I did it that way. As a Mac user I couldn't do anything else (no Mac installer). I just downloaded the full oxe install (all devices zipped) and then put them in the oxe folder inside my scope folder. There's one device to install manualy - the SBC - I didn't find any standalone installer for it and extracted it from the PC install folder (a moan appeared to install a dsp file (the name apeared, fortunately) so I copied the file.
