Hi,
I just want to let you know that the asus wd2 premium passed my audio-performance test
(together with intel p4 3.0GHz Dualcore)

There seems to be no major performance boost in compare to asus p5 ad2 e premium.

Best,
Andre

And possibly with a jump on the Masterverb test thread and all the specs...

That looks like the same motherboard/cpu I've got, and occasionally my machine freezes when I use SFP or XTC mode - wonder what you're doing different, maybe got less DSPs...?

It's also got 2GB PC6400 Corsair DDR2-XMS

I've got a Scope+Pulsar2 = 21 DSPs.
I've also got a Matrox Parhelia APVe
And finally, a Terratec DMX 6fire+MicrowavePC module

If I run with just the Terratec, my PC doesn't lock up - just when I use ASIO SCOPE

I managed to turn off Dual-Core by disabling ACPI APIC support in the BIOS, and configuring XP as a "Standard PC" instead
- hasn't locked up since, but instead the occasional crackles are back (perhaps due to other tasks running on the PC, no matter how trivial)

Dare I say I think I've fixed it?
Dare I???

Besides being annoyed by the crashes, I was upset by the zipper noises from the Graphics card - so it moved the cards around...

...and whaddya know, been running Dual-Core XTC mode for an hour now, no crashes...!

So, anyone else with an ASUS P5WD2 Premium, take note, this is the order I got stuff in now:-

Matrox Parhelia APVe
Terratec DMX 6fire+microwavePC module
Scope
-gap-
Pulsar2

Anyone else concurr...?

....well, almost fixed; I left it running all night, and when I woke up there was a "serious error has occurred" message from Cubase SX3 and a wierd machine-gun noise - the non-virtual Midi parts were still playing tho, and the machine itself was still working (I'm typing this message), so I suppose I can forgive it...

Clearly, tho much improved, more testing required...

Hello thedavewalker

As I'm going for the same mb p5wd2 as you,
can you tell me if you continued your testings ?
I want to take the same graphic card perhelia : what do you mean by zipper noise and did you fix this ?

and did you try the masterverb test ?

and did you have any difficulties with IRQ as told garyb ?
Would be nice to hear you...

Bye
