cracks with ASIO Scope
I have a problem with cracks - I use the creamware synths under xtc and have no problems,
but when I am under scope, I can play of the synths but there
are unceasingly cracks, mainly at the end of the notes under cubase
SX3.
- I tried to regulate latencies ULLI without success.
- similar for the audio priority in settings of ASIO SCOPE in cubase SX.
-I have another soundcard (terratec dmx6fire) but I do not use
this ASIO under cubase -
- all waves files or others vsti (arturia, reaktor...) plays with cracks under scope & SX3
- it does not have there crackings before I
launch scope and cubase - the mp3 function clearly front, but after
having closed scope and cubase, they continue to be made hear when I
read audio files
- when i am under cubase and scope, and that I want to import an audio file, the pre-listening of this one is also with
cracks
I'm going mad, who can help me? it would seem that it is the pilot ASIO SCOPE who functions badly.
my setup : windows XPpro, PIV 3.2, nvidia graphic card, dmx6fire...
thanks a lot

even if unusued, the dmx might still claim resources and interupts. On 2006-06-24 00:11, zodiak wrote:

Soundcard manufacturers are generally focussed on 'their' product, with few concerns to cooperation.
I'd disable the Teratec card completely in device manager just to see if the system reacts to it (to avoid a complete uninstall and physical removement of the card)
Which chipset has your mobo ?
cheers, Tom
the problem it is that the sound always passes by the dmx6fire.. is it normal? when I look at the graphics meters of the terratec and that
I play one creamware synth in cubase (under asio scope), the
graphics meters of the 6fire react, therefore the sound leaves well by the
terratec... i can't do otherwise because i have to connect my analog RCA to the terratec analogs outputs (for monitoring..)
(sorry for my bad english, i'm french...)

i'm desactivate dm6fire in windows and after that when i launch scope, i have the following message : "attempted to open with an unsupported waveform audio format (this error message is put in a little windows call "extwav01")
and always when i launch scope with a basic project :"error : scope [2] MIDI A Source is not appropriate for your hardware" and again : "error : scope [2] MIDI A Dest is not appropriate for your hardware"
finally, with dmx6fire desactivate, can't hear nothing because i've no input/output on my pulsar, i've to use the dmx6fire for obtain sound !

i've a winfast geforce4 MX 4000 64mo...
i've tried to change PCI slot, nothing better...
.... but on the older versions of scope it was possible to choose the buffer in the settings on pulsar... why it can be possible now with the scope 4.0 ? I think it's can be the solution... because the "cracks" i hear is the same noise produced by a bad buffer size or a bad asio resolution... maybe it's that.... maybe others problems.... damn...

do you route to the DMX via Soundcard Destination ?
then the crackle is normal as it's a very slow connection (old soundblaster standard) - you should also experience a significant loss in audio quality.
Sharing with an USB device is also very bad as USB generates lots of interupts even if nothing is connected to the port. Disable this USB, you probably have more than one (dunno that mobo in detail).
why don't you use Scope's Analog Out for monitoring ?
do you have the Adat only version ?
cheers, Tom

so you've listened to that thing only through the 'soundcard destination' channel until now ?
just get an IO-plate and all your problems will be gone - and your ears will thank you, too

cheers, Tom
ps: with a little luck you can certainly pickup one really cheap. Some shops may have old stock, someone's card broke or another IO plate was aquired etc
