Best Midi sequencer for scope
I was wondering if there was a "pure" midi sequencer that I could use to play Scope synths with without having to use ASIO. I can use some algorythmic apps like Fractal Tunesmithy this way to drive a Scope synth but was wondering if there was a proper composition environment that worked the same way without being a full DAW.

Personally, I'll let you know in a few months time once I've had a chance to properly road test it. But so far I'm very impressed with it.

Jazz++ http://www.jazzware.com/zope is pretty bare MIDI software, though it has some crude audio implementation. You don't need to enable it.
I already use Energy XT but the point of this thread is I want to try a setup without ASIO modules - just Midi sequencing routed straight into Scope plugins
So I'm looking for a good sequencer that doesn't need ASIO and just does Midi - no audio as I have VDAT for recording (no WDM either for that matter - I'm not interested in Sonar either)

Yamaha RS7000 imho is the best hardware midi seq there is, with lots of handon knobs and live midi effects, like midi delays, timeshift, swing etc... Read&write sysex, automation on all cc, program changes, realtime midi seq regroove with a precision of 480ppq.
Yamaha is well known for it's outstanding sequencers. I drive creamware & vdat from rs7000, and it work flawlessly. No software on earth can be that much rock solid on midi timing.
sells cheap these days, but it's becoming collector fast...

I agree with marcuspocus also, as I still have my Yamaha DMP7, and QX-1 MIDI sequencer. Yamahas old hardware is untouchable IMHO, as they don't make 'em like they use to. I paid 2600 USD in 1984 for the QX-1. I made that back in the first 6 months of use, as I made sequences 4 a local fake " pretty band" back in '85. Like the Rolands, Yamaha never crashed once, it was designed 4 live performance, period. So it's safe to assume the RS is from the same design table.
hi,
get ahold of a midi keyboard controller like the edirol series, hook it thru USB, launch your favourite midi sequencer and voila! You may use any Creamware synth to connect it thru your mdid sequencer, now any note that you trigger will be midied in your sequencer,
the synths will behave as VST instruments,
no need for XTC etc, that's the power of Scope,
cheers,
