Are more as 3 scoop pro cards possible?
Thanks for all reply guys.
Shroomz,Ralf told me they are at request from CW,so i think its best to phone or mail him to ask for ordering.
I have to make desision, magma or other MOBO.(anyway i have to update MOBO to,i think 2x 3.6 GH Xeons are still the fastest option)
I will only send 2 tracks from my host (logic 5.5) trough the pci bus for mixing into CW mixer ,all other trafic is on tdm bus of CW cards, another powercore sits in my MOBO for fx run in logic 5.5 here i usualy use 4 a 5 FX so maybe i have only 10 a 12 audio streams (i only use the scopes for the synth and fx but never use them in xtc mode)
Why you think a Magma is not good (for how many streams is it limited)?
(i most admid now i only have a 3GH P4 ,logic5.5 works like a dream with the CW platform,it like having real 'no latency' hardware in your DAW,BUT it eat up almost all CPU resources,so indeed with a more slower pci bus (because of the magma)i will run in problems)

Somax - there is a lot more going on on the PCI-bus than just the tracks to and from your sequenzer. In perticular the reverbs are eating a lot of PCI bandwith. From the things I have read so far, I seriuosly doubt, that you will have full use of 60 Sharcs in a Magma chase. Depending on the way you work, even with "just" 15 DSPs, you may run into limitations. Do some searches here on Magma. It is worth the research before purchase.
I sayd at request from CW,yes they are available 17 Euros,contact Ralf to grab them!On 2006-08-18 09:58, stardust wrote:On 2006-08-18 05:52, SOMAX wrote:

If you mean they know where to buy them, i still doubt.![]()

i've tested the magmas alot. and trust me, you'll never be able to use your 60 dsp's with a magma. i wasn't even able to use the full power of 30 dsp's, and i've tested with a superfast dell precision m70 notebook and also the pci-to-pci model...
finally this was the reason i sold both, the 2slot and the 4slot magma...
greez

hey guys i had a dream tonight:
i had an empty motherboard and by hyperspace mind power i could fill its slots with whatever i wanted. so i started making different configurations with the best cpus, graph cards, hard disks, rams................. finally i went on pci slots, and had a dilema, should i fill them all with scope cards or should i leave at least one... just in case?
don't ask me how many pci slots. hyperspace mind power could allow me have over 100...........
forgot to tell you if it was a good or a bad dream.
well, its your decision...
!!!!!!!! NO stdm cables were allowed !!!!!!!!

Sorry guys,iv been a bit buzzy last month with tracking, buying and restoring ARP2600,couple of Minimoogs,etc...
Still not yet tested 4 cards toghether, because d'ont have the mobo to do it.
But iv installing 3 cards in my test PC (old celeron 1GH)and this already works like a dream with an overflow of power.
Iv puch it to extreme by adding synths, and see in the dsp usage window that 1 DSP asyncronous works a lot (very high number),im wandering what this one does, transmission between cards??
Im still hesitate to buy a new mobo with 5 pci's to build a new daw full with cards or splitting the system by using that old pci have (wich would be cheaper)
The problem i discover in my test by puching the 3 cards to to max is that some dsp's on different cards are not used while the maximum power was reached!,i din't have used any FX in the test,so the bus of the pc was not charged,im wanderin if there is a limit for the internal data transmission bus between cards, and thats why it explains the dsp with the high number!!

I recently took one of my 15 DSP Type II's, and mixed it with 2 x 6 DSP Type II's, and it loads better than the 3 x 15 DSP cards which were a mixed variety of 2 x Type I's, and 1 x Type II. I can load the B2003, Pro-One, ProWave w/ 6 voices, Solaris w/ 8 voices, STM1632 with all four AUX's, and Softclip in the master FX slot, and it doesn't ask for optimisations, even at 90%. In the Type I, and Type II mixed configuration, I could do this, but only after several Optimisations. And those cards were cabled up to the max. If I could do it all again, I would have bought Type II 15's only. I have learned to take the advice from forum members. Buy the big ones, don't fuck around w/ the 6's. They are only a teaser.

wow scope4live! how can i see wich of my cards is typeI or II?
EDIT:ok iv search a bit on the forum,so type 2 cards are the one with a little connector behind the first tdm bus where you can plug a sync boardd into it?
In the forums ,some sayd SRB's are always type I,but mine also have that connector and its labeled SRB,so? (al my 4 cards have that connector)
