HDTV as a computer monitor

Is anyone out there using a High Definition Flat Screen TV as a computer monitor for their recording setup?

I'm looking to add this feature in order to take full advantage of the Digital Mixing environment Scope offers.

I was thinking a 32" Flat Panel hooked up via High Definition DVI input.

There are a lot of options/prices to choose from, so I thought I should ask if anyone has had considerable success (or failure) with any particular model.

Again, all feedback most definitely welcome.

I looked at sony 32 and 40" - as an example.
The resolution is 1366*768 while a typical 19" monitor is 1280*1024
It would be nice with hdtv at some distance, but i think 2 * 19" would be more useful.

at the moment i use triplehead2go.
i have also dualhead2go.
my vga card gives 2 dvi outs and i have canneced triplehead2go at the 1st out with 3 19"monitors and a 4th monitor at the second dvi out.
my experience so far with 4 monitors and these matrox boxes is that it is perfect with scope.
be carefull with compatibility. nvidia seems better but check it for your specific vga at matrox site.
at first i bought dual head2go and i had 3 monitors.
i bougtht triplehead2go because i did not want for matrox software to run as a service in xp, and if it didn't with dualhead2go all messages appeared in the centre of the 2 monitors, so cut half left and half right.
with triplehead2o go since there are 3 monitors messages appear in the centre thus on the centre monitor.(better)

with triplehead2go (3 monitors) and the 4th monitor at the 2nd dvi out things are great working on a scope environment.
i keep scopes mixer on the left.
i use the 2nd for putting synths.
3rd is for sequencer(nuendo)
and 4th is for having scopes routing window always vivible for fast working.

if i learn how to put a picture af my system i will put it here.

I have seen SFP / Nuendo 3.0 on the Matrox set-up, very impressive, but not as impressive as Battlefield 1942 in 180 degree panarama. But extra space for Nuendo and SFP is just beautiful on 3 x 19" LCD's. The Aquarium demo sells those cards quite well.

Not really hdtv, but I use a widescreen 20" apple cinema HD display at work.. and I still think 2 * 19" is better. 20" widescreen may save desktop space, but I think productivity is better with dual monitor.

It may be a different story if there was a tool to divide up the 20" space and use it just like a dual setup. Like "maximize to just half screen" that kind of stuff. Rarely do you need anything to cover an entire 20" widescreen.

notifications split down the middle? Is that a mac thing? I haven't seen that happen in XP if that's what you're worried about. The pop ups show up on your primary.

stardust, i think that was a setting on the nvidia card which caused that problem.

I am using a ViewSonic NextVision N2700W screen as my main monitor with my setup. Unfortunately my maxium resolution is 1280 x 720. But it works great for what I need. It can get a little difficult with larger synth surfaces like the Quantum Wave. But for 390.00 I can not complain.
