this is a patch which comes along with a DeviceManager panel. If you want to check it out, unpack the CWModularSxDevice.xml into the DeviceMaps folder of Cubase. Also some presets included (named with numbers).Happy tweaking!

hi Piddi,
don't know if you ever tried the DeviceManager in CubaseSX; if not: with this thingy you can edit any (hard- or software)synth which reacts on MIDI (sysex or controller) messages. This comes in handy for the Pulsar environment synths, because here you can edit almost everything via CC#s.So here this DevManager panel just controls the various modules of the modular.
Don't know if the SX file I edited will work with Cubase SX1+2 though, I have SX3.Hope it will work for you.

Just took a look to the CubaseSX manual and it says the MidiDeviceManager is integrated in all SX versions and in SL as well. For those who want to check the patch, a short description of how to install the panel:
-open the MidiDeviceManager (in the Devices menu)
-press Import Setup
-load the CWModularSxDevice.xml file I've uploaded
-select the appr. Midi output of the device (eg Pulsar In/Out1) and Midi channel: 1 (important; forgot to mention this)
-click "open device", done.
Despite having to spend some hours to program the panel (but you can make modifications for other synths if it is done once), I see some benefits that may make it worth the work:
-no preset bug (snapshots can be stored in Cubase); you can exchange Oscs, effects amd so on as you like, just have to assign the appropriate CC value(s)
-clear layout (depends on your own preferences)
-instant access for multi-select parameters like the polyFilters types, wavetable waves, freqDivider values...)
-and, at least concerning my good old Matrox videocard, better and faster handling than the slow Scope GUI
What do you think?

yep, you are right, sorry. Other inconveniences like the numerous CubaseSX3 bugs doesn't make things better...Nevertheless I created a new SX device http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... forum=15&0 Don't know...I like synths with reasonable GUI.

...but I don't want to start a PC vs Apple / Cubase vs Logic discussion here...

I'm gonna bump this thread - for 2 reasons - first it looks soo cool.. and second i'm being a muppet and cant get the modular to work
Roy, this is great work! but i'm having trouble getting any sound.. i've checked the guide and dont think i'm doing anything wrong.. i've got the devce map in cubase and the modular in scope - but even without the device map i get midi in lights on the modular but no sound..
is that normal?
Would love to be able to use this if poss - any help much apprieciated.
Thanks,
Tom

hi Pseudojazzer,
have you copied the Midi Snapshot file in CubaseSX which came with the zip file?
To find out where the Snapshot file ("MIDI Snapshot Generic CC 01-119 80DBD10EDF8941B9BCCEDDE56D628B76") should be stored, double-click a little application in your CubaseSx3 program folder called “open_cubasesx3_application_data_folder.exe”
=> an explorer window will open with the correct path to your Cubase datas. Save the snapshots folder in the “Presets” folder.
If you recalled a snapshot and still nothing can be heard, the reason for this could be:
- wrong Midi channel
- you don't have Flexor
- wrong Cubase version (should be the latest SX3)

Fantastic!
This thing is great thanks!
In case anyone is wondering, every single parameter can be automated and much more easily than within Scope which is the beauty of it.
I hope you do more of these.
