When looking around for devices to download when I first got my Pulsar I was directed to PlanetZ, I have been enjoying the forum ever since and had not looked elsewhere until recently. I went to the CW forum - it sucks, so disorganised.
But it has left me wondering what other forums are out there and are there any as good or as well visited as PlanetZ :???:

AFAIK there's 2 on http://groups.yahoo.com/, of which one is much visited; the pulsar-scope group.
Then there's different developers that have their own forum (dspdev, spacef,...) but they seem to be more related to their own products and development. It might be a good idea to visit the homepages of developers. They might contain some goodies and neat-to-know stuff.
Planetz is most definitely the place to be for Pulsarians. It's the numéro uno. No doubt.

If you want something a bit different, like a VST forum where they did a huge DUMP  on Pulsar, have a read here:

I just had to sign up and do a counter-rave !

No thanks Spirit, as far as I can see the level of discussion over K-v-R is pitifully shallow

It is clear to me that most people participating in the discussion there are warez people who have never actually used Creamware stuff... otherwise their views would not be so biased with no viable arguments. It's virtually the same as taking any virtual analog synth and saying that VSTi's sound as good - which is a bad joke imho.

Anyway, it doesn't matter as long as I am confident in what I do and how I do it.

Best regards,

Being the person who actually started that Pulsar thread in KVR, I have to say that I was surprised with the strength of some of the attacks against Pulsar from people who obviously didn't know much about it. Some of the things they said scared me a bit because I don't have my Pulsar card yet, but I discussed it with the guy putting my system together and he made me feel much more confident. Nice buying from someone who is really passionate about his product.

I don't hate VSTi. I have at least one or two VSTi that I really adore the sound of, but I can't deny the logic in having synths developed specifically for dedicated DSP chips - and plus, sometimes you've got to take a risk and grow a bit.

I'm a bit impatient to start working with my Pulsar now.

You persevered in the face of many enemies, but I notice that Algo has given them both barrels in return

Hey algorhythm.

I went to you website to listen to some of the music you've done, but my connection was only allowing me to download at 250 bytes per second. Bummer!

Are your tracks made exclusively with Pulsar devices?

It always amazes me when people come out and say "I had a Pulsar but it sucked so bad that I bought three Pulsar 2's and bucketloads of other Pulsar stuff, and guess what...it sucked even more!"
I mean...where do these people get that kind of money, and how small are their brains for wasting it on something they hate?

No! Pulsar is great, but I prefer to use sounds from a wide variety of sources. I use outboard gear, Pulsar stuff, and VST stuff.

The tracks which have the most Pulsar stuff are the first and last tracks on my site. The first one especially, but I still used my trusty old CS2X, some destroyFX VST FX. Some Pulsar synths are there, as is the STS3000 for all of the drums and such.

It has a lot to do with perseverence I think... Like, Pulsar has this learning curve, a tight one I think, and you have to try really hard to beat the curve.. But I think, being a composer myself, such a curve is usually present in any sort of production, so that's why when I saw that Pulsar was hard to learn, I didn't freak out. (or feel intimidated like the people you're talking about) And once you get past the initial learning curve, wa lah, you get awesome quality. I'd say, Pulsar's curve is nothing compared to learning harmonization theory and other elements of composing. If the person couldn't beat pulsar, it's hard to say that person't much of a composer/creator.. (sorry, I may sound a bit harsh, I'm kind of drunk)

But either way, I have a feeling PlanetZ is has a very good vibe, that not only lets you learn Pulsar, but also learn how to beat the many challenges that must be faced to become a well balanced composer. Yeah, so I guess that's it! PlanetZ ain't just about Pulsaring.. it's also about being a good musician, creator.. what a good artistic vibe.

Funny fact: There are researchers studying online communities, that was just amazed at the positive, active atmosphere in PlaneZ. The way an online community would work, is to have a balanced give/take ratio.. and most of the times, the "give" part becomes the main objective.. but here, it's more like, give, give, and then give away a hidden trick, and then take... The researchers say, we have somehting going on here that has never yet been seen before. Pretty cool eh? We're the "exception". (I dunno about you guys, but I LOOOVE being called that)

I just don't see the need to search for another forum! What for! Here you have everything you can possibly need and frankly, even more!

I've been to many forums lately, just out of curiosity, because I've been without an Internet connection for about 6 months now. I read what people would say, the way they would express an talk to each other. I was EXTREMELY surprised of the violence! So much free violence! Useless violence! I was really astonished!
I just immediately thought:

Well, I do pertain to a really wonderful forum, and this forum is Planet Z.

It was wonderful to be back after about 6 or even 7 months. I just would go to some Internet Café, but for a short while.

What the hell would we do if Planet Z was not here? Just spend months and months and months of learning by ourselves seeking answers to our confusions and luck of knowledge. Because truly, as it has already been said, Pulsar has a very tight learning curve, it's true! And this excellent and peaceful forum makes it possible for anybody to learn, and in this way, one day you start to teach something you have just learned, joining the sequence of good will.

First of all, we have to thank John Cooper for his incredible propitiating good will that has been I think, the rule for us all. And I have to thank personally, to you all for being able to be here the way you are!

I LOVE..AND LOVE..AND LOVE..PLANET Z FORUM

Yes, it's a nice push, but I think we don't have to be researchers to see that, as we're all experiencing Z every day. Lucky us.
DO you happen to have an url about the research?

Cheers.
