Flexor 1 had 11 filters

Flexor 2 has 31

this is the kind of ration you can expect from flexor2 ;)

big bang for the buck.

and yes, new ocillators, new envelopes, LFO's sequencers, more ganular effects, lots of new shapers and distortions, more tools and modulators... fun fun fun!!!!

I've checked out Flexor 1 a couple of times but decided to wait for a new version with more modules for a better price. But I guess now I'd have to pay $200 euro to be compatible with all modular patches which makes Flexor even less attractive for my purposes since I'm not a patch programmer but a user.
Bottom line, if I wasn't a patch programmer, and didn't want to mess around with Modular, I would probably not buy Flexor. Of course it's 'overpriced', if you don't have any need for it. Of course, to me, 99 euros or so will be a joke compared to the functionality (hope there's some more MIDI functionality especially). You can't equate Flexor 1->2 to Cubase 1->2. In that case, Adern would have to fix all the bugs in Flexor 1 and introduce new ones for Flexor 2 :D

a modular at the level of a nord mod for 200euro is overpriced?

I think CW Mod + Flexor is even better than Nord mod. Better sound quality, more filters, more modules, free third party modules. So yes, support the developers! :) :) :)

Like saskija i am more a user than a programmer, but even so i bought FleXor. Unlike him i think this is easily a fair price. With megerov and Faxi's contributions alone there are enough patches to keep me going for years without even making my own, plus all the other contributors. i will probably buy the new modules too once some patches start emerging. Problem with the warez/music download generation is they expect everything for free.

Some of you may have seen Red Muze mention in the past that he builds these tools for his use in his own musical production (he makes his living producing other artists, and these tools play a major role). You might also have seen an announcement for Flexor2 some time ago, and have been patiently waiting all the years since. If one were to read between the lines here it would become apparent that while Red was busy with his own work and life and didn't have time to give the Adern spit & polish to his creations so that they're marketable, development of his tools has never ceased and he still uses them daily.

And since I've discussed these matters with Red, I happen to know that the price of Adern products have never reflected commercial needs or desire for profits but Red Muze's attempts to make his tools reasonably available to us all. So while most companies would be focused on generating profit from their products and have released v3 or even v4 by now, the small group that is Adern has only finally just had the free time to polish things up for a new version which we obviously still call v2 (since 1.5 was free!). If it helps those who feel the price is too much, just ignore the version numbers and think of this as another 3 years of development on a tool that has been 5-6 years in the making overall.

exatcly! since the initial thought back a few years ago to relese flexor2, until the actual announcment of release in march by red muze, the list of modules has grown by many many modules. like valis said, more fair to call this v4 ;) :D

Perhaps as Flexor 2 was announced years ago and development has continued far beyond what was announced then perhaps Red should abandon the v2 moniker and call the package 'Super Flexor' or perhaps 'Flexor Gold' with panels in nice brushed gold instead of silver :) :) :)

This is not a stupid idea!!! It could be very useful to recognize the different Flexor versions... i.e. I hate that ModII & ModIII modules has the same design!
4PC + Scope 5.0 + no more Xite + 2xScope Pro + 6xPulsarII + 2xLunaII + SDK + a lot of devices (Flexor III & Solaris 4.1 etc.) + Plugiator.

I'll hold my breath till March / April ! :P
Great news after many years starving !!
Flexor is the greatest bang for the buck I'am aware of, in the range of Warp69 verbs and more.
I hope though the resonance of previous and coming filters has been increased and less dropping levels when you increase resonance.

On the contrary, in order to equate with Cubase, Adern would not bother to fix outstanding bugs before moving on to the next chargeable update (which would, of course, introduce new ones!)

Fortunately though, I get the impresion that Adern, by actually showing some respect to their customers, is a much more responsiible concern than Steinberg!

All personal feelings about Steinberg aside, in a professionall capacity I wouldn't begin to compare a small operation like Adern to managing such a huge codebase & customerbase (Steinberg). I'd hate to oversee their development & QA systems, and deal with upper management decisions that you can't do much about, marketing speaking without consulting the technical guys on whether or not their promises are actually achievable ,etc etc. Having worked for large software firms before I can say with surety that these are all the norm for many larger firms.

The 'dropping of levels' with increased resonance is usually associated with ladder filters, aka "moog" style filters. Some of the Flexor 1.x filters have a 'FAT' slider which will eliminate this loss of low level as you increase the level of the slider (similar to some of the filters on Logic's instruments & samplers). As for the v2 filters... you'll just have to wait & see. :D

Hey Decimator!

the "level droping" of the filters are realy depending on their topology and eventualy sound.

If the resonance emphases a certain frwequency, it would normaly take some more headroom. to avoid a filter being cliped there are 2 options:
1) attenuate the input as resonance gets higher - headroom will stay the same and the precived loudness of the sound will be reguarding to the frequencies you are emphasing.
2) attenuate the frequencies arround the resonance point so that in compensates on headroom.

both options exist i flexor2 and they both sound totaly different, and able to make different sounds.

and yes some of the new filters have self oscillating resonance, and the rest all have a bit more resonance than the older filters.

peace!
