Creamware - SB-404

This device is extremely expensive and does not sound that spectacular. When the clock is synced to an external sequencer the note-on trigger sucks. Not very groovy... Also the surface design sucks. How con they ask so much money for that shit.

The SB404 is pretty damn cool IMHO. I've only been playing with it for the past two days since I got it, but I can see how I'm really going to enjoy using it. One thing that I don't dig about it however is that while the step sequencer is changing values in real time, the actual knobs on the synth don't change in tandem... Seem strange since using MIDI CC numbers makes them change just fine (in other synths -- haven't tied this one in particular). I'm digging the punchy sound of it too, it's going to be great for bass lines (being monophonic, it's not good for much else

). I also like how the 'sequences' can be saved independently of the 'patches'.

i agree with the first post. it sounds like a piece of a hollowed out turd. the sequencer bites as well. what would be used on a burger king commercial trying to emulate some kind of stereotyped, americana, cheesed genero-pop. someone needs to take the premise of this device and put some soul into it!!!!!!

The sequences of SB404 are given for example. If you want groove, just program it, it's really easy. DO you want CW to make your songs ?

It is neither great nor terrible, just OK. I imagine you can built it and improve upon it in the Mod2 so it isn't worth the money if you have that. I've been able to get some nice lines out of it, but I nearly always defer to the Mod2 or the Pro One (which is top notch) for that sort of line now.
