Hi,
i have been using a luna 2 soundcard for many years (well from when they first come out) and have had no problems on my old system. I bought a new core 2 duo system on a p5b deluxe motherboard and had big problems with my system freezing when using cubase or playing back audio with winamp.
I tried everything and the only thing that worked was the 3.1b_drivers, i can't remember who uploaded them but thanks a million. I was thinking about getting another soundcard but these drivers saved the day.
Just thought i would register and let you all know.
Hi i have similar PC configuration but on my PC 3.1b not working good they have similar problems like 3.1c i"v make compromise with disabling APIC in BIOS but I loose 1 core from my core2 duo processor.......Thats be "ONLY" solution for me {another is change my creamware Pusar2 and SRB1}...
IWhen I install Windows with enabled APIC and in ACPI multiprocessor support I get gliches and strange FX and machine is freezing { have not IRQ conflicts....Pulsar is on 23 and SRB on 22 trayed with removed SRB but again same things....
ljarapepe, your PCI sharing sometimes won' t be visible once APIC/ACPI 'steer' things to the virtual irq's. This doesn't actually address the fact that the hardware lines are still shared, and since the Scope cards use a lot of PCI bandwidth (they're not just carrying 10 audio channels) they almost always require an unshared slot.
The solution isn't to disable ACPI, it's to figure out what slots are shared. The first step is to disable as much as possible for onboard devices (anything not being used). Then to figure out what slots are 'free' you can either just try each PCI slot in turn with the masterverb test (a known pci stress test for scope users) or use a non-acpi boot utility (certain linux livecd's or a dos floppy with appropriate tools to snoop the pci addressing).
Disabling ACPI was a solution originally found under win2000 with it's less than stellar ACPI implementation, but things improved under Xp. It took a few years for hardware to stabilize alongside Xp, but with most Intel chipsets (or Nforce3) made in the last 3-4 years ACPI shouldn't be an issue at all. The few hardware combinations that are less compatible can be made to work with a little more effort and a bit of research on these forums.
I wish i could help you ljarapepe.
I hope you have solved your problem. Valis's advice should help you and searching the forum should help you as it helped me. I can't give you a solution because even if you have a near same spec pc the problem could be a number of thing's. People on here know a lot more about drivers and setting scope boards up more than me.
