IRQ SETTINGS

My mortherboard was broke and i got a new one the asus p5w dh deluxe
and turned of almost all unessesery devices but there was one still sharing an irq with my pulsar card
Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
what is it for and can i turn it of without problems?

no i don't use firewire so in can turn it off

ok i'm testing the pc now without the firewire i don't use the firewire on this pc
so it's all good
stardust thanks for the quick response
i was changing my processor to a quad core that's when i noticed that the connection to the processor on my motherboard where bend so the motherboard had to go.
do you now if it is a bennefit to have a quad core when using cubase sx 3 with vsti and scope?

Should be a benefit. I've heard that Cubase spreads its synths and FX to all "processors".
Of course not 100 % compared to a dual core, but maybe 50 to 60 %, I think.

Not even 50% actually. More like 25% per core under ideal conditions, so 'real world' you'll come in under 50% for adding 2 more cores (total of 4). However added clockspeeds / cache etc also offset this so... Point to remember though is that there are diminishing returns as you add cores with audio tasks in a complex (non-benchmark) situation.
