Does the Pulsar 1 Classic support sample rates above 48k?

A place to talk about whatever Scope music/gear related stuff you want.

This is all very good news to me. It'll save me a lot of research. My setup is pretty decent and things sound pretty good to me at 44.1. Mixes could improve but raw tracks are fine.

The basics -
- Digimax 96k
- Yamaha i88x with plugins
- Pulsar 1 on a P4 2.8ghz PC.
- RME DIgiface on a P4 Dou Core 6600E PC w. (2) UAD 1 PCI cards.
- Cubase 4
- Wavelabs 6

The thing is, I mix on the RME PC, It's a duo core unit. I've had the Pulsar 1 card for a long time and only really use it for routing, synths and samples. I haven't mixed on the Pulsar box before and I'm not sure there would be any real comparison to that of the RME sounding system. When you say 'mix in scope', you are referring to a host application that uses the pulsar/scope card, right? I'm not sure I want to swap the Pulsar card for the RME Hammerfall card. One PC provides twice the performance of the other. A silly question - would it pay to mix on the RME system and send 16 tracks via light pipe to the Pulsar PC as sort of a summing option? Am I going to get some huge benefit with the scope mixer sound or something?

I mix on a e6750 daw with the rme multiface and route 8 ch via adat to a second pc to the scope mixer.I mostly mix efx and add synths in scope and do the rest on the rme daw.I also use the rme clock and the da of the rme due to quality.

So you take a stereo mix out of scope (of the 8 effected channels + synths) back to the RME box? And if so, thru the host app? You monitor from RME like I do. Do you create your final mix from the RME side?

I sort of use that approach for the Synths. Currently I setup external track instruments for Pulsar Synths, within cubase on the RME box, so each track appears like a VST track so I can EQ, automate and compress on an individual synth basis with all my other tracks - waste of valuable inputs though. I only have 4 dsp chips on my pulsar card. I just use the Masterverb as an effects return available to my RME host app. for all tracks to use.

Edit: I am on sx3 on the rme daw.

Depends,i mostly route 8 tracks to the scope system and 8 tracks back into the rme or i sum 8 ch via the scope mixer and get a stereo signal back into the rme daw.I mostly monitor via the totalmix and create the final mix on the rme daw aswell.I see the scope system more like an synth / effekt rack.I sometimes just use vdats for projekts aswell. It really depends on what i need.Oh i also just have a pulsar 1 (4dsp) but i got a pulsar 2 aswell now for more efx and modular stuff:) I have to decide as the multiface only has 8ch via adat+ s/pdif, so 10 ch is max i/o to the second daw.

Total Mix is awesome. I see, so you have all the power you need in your scope hardware for effects. When I mix in cubase, I like the "export to wav file" option rather than going to an external deck. This is why I create external instrument and effect tracks for anything outside of the RME box. Also rewiring to Ableton for additional libraries.

Do you find that the track EQ's in the old "big mixer v2" sound nicer than the plugin versions that come with scope software? I don't use big mixer anymore, just curious. For drums in particular.

FWIW, I have an 8 channel Digimax 96k w/Limiters and EQ enhance feature that I want to sell if anyone's looking for a good AD converter.

I still use the bigmixer quite often.I like the eq´s for drums/ glitch tracks, they have such a nice "thing" for these type of audio. For serious summing the newer sc mixers are the way to go for me now.I needed the bigmixer often due to dsp capacity.

The big mixer handles DSP better than the SC type mixer?

On the topic, where, or how, do you connect stereo effects for the big mixer? I seem to have lost something for lack of use. Thx.

It takes 1 block on the dsp meter on a pulsar1.I connect em via Aux1/2 3/4 and so on.
