Computer stops responding
I get this a lot too, it only occurs when i'm really driving MIDI data from my controller, so that's turn a lot of knobs at once or playing lots of keys quickly so i'm 99% my problem is MIDI data based...
I have midi filters with the 'sysex' box checked but this is still happening from time time...doesn't the sysex box filter the active sensing too?
someone previously was wondering if it is a cubase sx3 problem, well i just replicated it using Midi-OX, so for me it's definietely something between my controller (Emu XBoard49) (connected to PC via USB for power, but it's cabled directly to scope midi in), Midi data, and my pulsar.

I love scope and the features it offers but my ultimate goal is to create an enviroment that is the same in the studio as it is on stage.
Will start my own system build thread when ready good luck everyone.

Well, truth be told: the system does seem more stable now I use a different MIDI interface. I don't know what caused the last crash, but I didn't have one since then, even though I recorded some MIDI parts. I do expect more crashes in the future and I will keep looking for a solution, but for now the situation seems to be workable at least. Thanks for all your input.Fluxpod wrote:Well sorry to hear that but to me it seems that something is definitive not right in your setup..and after years with scope..i doubt its the card / drivers.Did you check for dead / leaking caps on your mainboard? May aswell build a new daw.
And these stable Scope 4.0/4.5 -machines may have been equipped with USB-based mouse?garyb wrote:i very much understand the frustration as well. still, the computer should be stable, the issue is not the drivers. i've seen too many stable machines running scope...
Since after abandoning PS2 -mouse by changing with USB-model i have not suffered serious freezing problems anymore.

I have the same conflict!
Sometimes the PC freeze when i work with Cubase SX 3.
I don`t have any problem with the IRQ`s and any sound driver installed...
I have a Pulsar 1 + SRB.
I have the same problem my old PC....
My system:
Mainboard Asus M2N-E SLI
Chipset nVidia nForce4
Processor AMD Athlon 64X2
Video Card Nvidia GeForce 8400
In the old PC i have:
Mainboard Asus A/V600-X
Chipset VIA KT600
Processor AMD Sempron
Video Card Ati Radeon 9250
In the old PC i had a shared IRQ (Pulsar and graphics card),
But in not my new PC!
Always thought that the problem was in the shared IRQ, but i`m wrong....
I read the post and i see too much people with this problem..
I am beginning to be tired of having problems with it...
Some ideas!¿
Thanks!!!!!
