This is awesome news!! I'm sorry I didn't believe the rumors that were floating around recently!! Scope and Sonic Core live on! It's what we've been dreaming of for years!!!

I'm sorry it doesn't support Z-Link, but that would have cost extra money to put on there, and since most pro users would probably want all those big XLR and AES/ABU connectors, I can understand why they went that route. It's better than the RCA outputs we're used to. :)

I'm only wondering what it's Mac integration capabilities are. I'm assuming it's OS 10.5 (Leopard) and Intel compatible, right? Also, how does it work with PCI-E and ExpressCard at the same time? Does it come with a PCI-E connection card, or do we have to buy something that has an ExpressCard port in the back?

Also, I wonder if there's any kind of VST/AU audio I/O plugin to semi-integrate Scope with DAW software, or if we have to rely on audio buses and channels in our DAWs like we did before. I'm assuming XTC is gone, and Scope is still separate software like before. SC didn't give us much detail regarding the software end of Scope Xcite....

Regardless, the 10x DSP power alone is worth the whole thing!! :D

I'm sure everyone on audio forums is gonna bitch about the price because most people on those forums (and probably on this forum) are not directly the target audience of this product. With the price and performance it's definitely targeted at a more "pro" segment of the market
Yes, but the company must think about their past solvency problems and try to never arrive in the same situation. I don´t believe that focus in an pro target audiene is the best economical way. Realize that is like a piramid. In it´s base, there is lot´s of people, and in the top, low people.
The best situation is a target in the just the middle, so the guys at the bottom could fall in the temptation, the middle would buy inmediatly, and the top will be pre-ordering.
I think it could be much better for the company go for a massive target, than for a "pro" target.
I don´t mean they must sell at the price of an M-audio, what could be imposible, but try to bring it near the home musician guys. We are lot of people.
Also near TC, UAD prices, would beat the competitors in it´s eggs.
Regarding to a "lower power" option, usually is more expensive for a company to manufacture diferent products, than lowering the price of the main product.
I think that a competitive price with the paralel UAD, TC, would make come people like bees, because the advantage of the non-latency lots of synths, amps simulators, sampling etc etc.
I wish the company think about all this.

as said before: connecting it via ADAT should work, but there is no Z-Link port on the XITE.
so the answer to your question is both yes and no.
Can't they at least make a version with Z-Link connectors?

maybe then can. but at least that XITE-1 doesn't have it at this moment.
for more information you gotta go to frankfurt next week, I'm afraid.
(I'd like to see Z-Link, too, but maybe it is too early anyway to think about it.)

Hey, STEADY!!! :D

Meanwhile, back at the ranch......

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/new-prod ... e-1-a.html

Thing about Scope that a few don't seem to comprehend is what the system can actually do. EVERYTHING. For me it's also the little things that I love about the system. I think of something, I can do it, usually with many available options. Total flexibility.

SSL does eq and comp with much limitation on usage. Powercore 8x, the same with more FX. Both firewire. Great products, no doubt. No I/O's, preamps, no studio integration solution, no synths, no anecdotes and great laffs from Planet Z.

This new box actually costs about as much as my main vocal mike or one of my nearfield speakers. Not bragging or showing off, BTW. I'll use anything that squeaks. Just putting it in context. The XCITER is a cheap solution for what it potentially can do. UAD-Xpander Xtreme costs 1,349.99 Brits. For verbs, eq & comps with huge limitations on horsepower. Good stuff but much Scope FX is well comparable if not better. And a LOT cheaper.

I'm actually getting on fine with 2 x large. I tend to have to do things in reasonable predetetermined order to get DSP efficiency on big projects, but no real sweat. The XCITER is giving me severe DSP agraphobia, looks pretty powerful.

Very happy for The Bod Of Ralf, who expressed his joy, and the rest @ SoniCore. They must have been at this night and day. New boxs, OSX, Vista. How many have they got over there?

Hmmmm..... What "other things". :P

This affair is like a slow striptease. WHEN will all be revealed? Get 'em OFF!!

Just letting off a bit of mental steam here, chaps. Sorry.

I am not too worried about z-link, even though it might be because I just broke mine, hehe..
With an a16u and an xite-1 you can easily record 10 (maybe 12?) channels of 88.2K/96K at once. Do you think you will need more? Possibly in a pro-audio situation, but then you could always add another a16u/xite-1 combo.

You've got 2 x preamps at front, 2 x inputs at the back, and you could hook up 8 S-muxed light-pipe channels.

Most likely we'll see an xite-2 or something with z-link.

If this is really aimed at the "pro" market, it would make sense why there's no Z-link: pro users are going to be using their boutique, $5k converters and not the A16U. It'd be nice if they'd also introduce a cheaper, less powerful product that's more of a replacement for the systems we have now, but it's probably good if they don't. CreamWare was always introducing five different versions of the same thing, spreading themselves out too thin, and going bankrupt. At one point, we had:

-PowerSampler
-Elektra
-Luna
-Pulsar
-PowerPulsar
-Pulsar XTC
-Scope S/P

All running different software, yet the same plugins, and was very confusingly marketed. I think SC doesn't want to make the same mistake again. With Scope Xcite, the motto is: "We make product, you buy." 'Nough said.

Then there was Klangbox. And Noah.

think of integrating your outboard gear.

I could do without (integrated) preamps, as well as you could do without Z-Link :)

there won't be the ideal box for everybody, that much is clear. but this isn't the approach, so why complain? we still know so little about the new platform...
