Are you going to buy the new Scope hardware?
yep. before the announcement most people were absolutely satisfied with what they had. you could read everywhere that people would stick with their cards until the last one died.garyb wrote:guys, the current cards are the same thing. if you don't need all that there's still the old cards.
I don't see why everything should be different now. of course, those who already pushed a triple 14dsp team to it's limit are welcome to upgrade, and those people are most probably the ones SC is aiming at right now (not to forget those who couldn't live with the restrictions that are obsoleted now with vista-, osx- and pci-e support).
the Better is always the enemy of the Good [tm].
but why worry if the Good is still superior?

I'm sorry, but my karma just ran over your dogma.

What's different now is that with this new hardware announcement Sonic Core have ensured that the Scope platform remains alive and keeps on improving.
Even better my old Pulsar v1 and two Pulsar v2 cards are still compatible with the new software. How fantastic is that!!
I bought my first Pulsar something like ten years ago when they first came out and never would have expected it to still be in my setup in 2008!
Looks like us Scope users are in for exciting times again

I can only agree with this post. So I voted "Yes - when there is a cut down version/cheaper!"I'm sure we agree that the XITE-1 is well worth it's money. maybe it is even underpriced for what it does. I don't see a reason why they should sell that unit for less.
but still I don't have the money to buy one right now. there's a lot of gear I'd like to have ( a more decent preamp, a top class mic, and the list continues).
still people have to stick with what they have, if they can't afford what they'd like to have. I have no problem with that.
see, I put some money into the platform I have right now. maybe I would have held my money back if I had known that those things would really happen. and maybe more poeple would have. but then, that development had to be funded by money. probably we should keep telling ourselves we just made a good investion into the future we (speaking of me and those people who have my budget) just can't benefit from (yet).
I can just hope SC will remember that we're out there, waiting for an XITE variant we can afford, with the necessesary restriction to justify a lower price and still enough power to justify the investion for the buyers.
go on, SC!

I absolutely believe the Xite-1 is amazing value for money, but it's still way too much for what I'd need. But I'd definitely be interested in whatever hardware option they could build in a 1000-1500 price range that could replace all 3 of my PCI cards into a single and more powerful unit.

10 x more DSP power than before !!
Not a bad price considering what you get for your money. But still too expensive for me....unless I speak to that nice loan company that helped me get into Creamware cards in the first place....
The main bonus, as far as I can see, would be the immense processing power without the PCI bandwidth restrictions.
The downside is the limited number of ADAT In/Outs (16 channels), which would limit it's integration with my PCs running VST plugins. I would want 32 ADAT in/outs. Plus I would need to buy a PC with a PCIe connector.
Occasionally my Creamware cards give out strange messages and refuse to work but I finally have a "studio" setup that I am happy with. Time to actually have a go at finishing something musical rather than working out what my next upgrade will be. Although - my PCs' hardrive is starting to make some funny noises so might need replacing - perhaps with a PC that has a PCIe connector or two.............

I play live and need XITE-1 just for the power.
I can now have QWave, ProWave, Solaris, and WS4-MKII all maxxed out and running in a project where a simple MIDI channel change will go from one awesome beast to another.
Not many here have heard QWave. It is an incredibly unique and powerful synth, but I could never get more than 5 voice polyphony on 45 DSP's. But I rarely have unused parameters in Bowen's Synths. " Lite " presets are non existant.
I can really use this in production and live work.
My Oberheims were at an all time high price as of Jan. 2007. I wasn't sure why, but my serial numbers were under the first 100 units, and I finally took a Japanese gentlemens offer for their sale. 8000 USD w/ cases, and he's flying over to get them in April.
Yes I am sad, but I thought about a new Bricasti Model 7, a Soniccore XITE-1, and the Hardware Solaris. The scales have tipped towards the latter.
I have never been so sad and happy at the same time.
My only problem is having GaryB accept payment early before I spend the money.
Please Soniccore, send GaryB the method of setting up an accounts recievable document !! The temptations of Las Vegas are extreme.
I will be visiting the Bunny Ranch in Carson City also. This will be an unforgettable Sp[ring Season 4 Me.

Scotty, you are a true warrior.

Hats Off 2U.

Brotha' Man Stardust,
In a worst case scenario I would still find a use.
To me it is a small contribution back to those who helped me make so much.
I was on the ropes w/o management, only my woman, parents, and my sons encouragement to remain on the battlefield kept me in the fight.
Scope was my Tiger Tank.
Now I turn down more work than I ever imagined.
My German born Grandfather ( Bless His Soul ) who wanted me to be a conductor and paid for my lessons when I was 4 years old, would surely be proud of me.
His heart was always in his homeleand. He wanted to kill Russians when my Father returned from his tour of duty. It literally broke his heart as he watched them ravage Eastern Europe.
He would be proud knowing I have suceeded and German engineered products have become my ammunition.

is it true that SC are 2 guys? unless they are geniusses, they are never gonna have the success uaudio has. They need a guy who knows the zeitgeist, and can translate it to PR for that company. And the company must be willing to pay a considerable amount of money for the marketing - then they may also sell this device for more.
Imho the product is and was always good, but way too unknown and not understood by many mostly foreign customers..correct me if I´m wrong. They need better marketing, and that´s not a piece of cake, it may cost quite alot.
Well, we´ll see how things work out!

No, not really!! Ralf is the KeyMeister who helps us all out at the end of the email tube. There is actually a reasonably sized group working with the new SonicCore. I did see a list of names somewhere. 15-20. I'm not exactly sure. Don't quote me.tomylee wrote:there is only ralf?
There are two Managing Directors, Holger Drenkelfort & Jürgen Kindermann.
But Ralf does all the work.
"SONIC CORE was founded by the developers Holger Drenkelfort and Jürgen Kindermann in March 2007 as a business to design and distribute solutions in the area of music production, professional audio and broadcasting. "
So they've only been trading for a year with the new company. Looking good to me. I'm sure they will put their experiences with Creamware to good effect when making their business decisions.

I'am between :
Yes - when I've saved up!
Yes - when there is a cut down version/cheaper!
I've been dreaming about nearly unrestrained power for years, just do the math of the price / DSP ratio of old vs XITE-1 : it's a no-brainer !
The it's too expensive in the poll could maybe replaced by : I can't afford it because I don't think it's too expensive for what you get ...
I've no plan to keep my 6 DSP card but I would like beneficial keys tranfert since I've got a lot of them ! so a bundle naked XITE at a lower price then pay some acceptable money for the transfert then dump the 6 DSP at a low price.
Waiting for add-on gear especially for connections expansion : a big plugs box with lots of ins and outs ( including more MIDI ) connected to the XITE then you process / rout in Scope V5, could be also a multiwhip smaller box to gain room and more ports.
Well anyway I'am very confident in the current SC dream team and I'am sure there will be very exciting gear offers and awesome plugs to come !!
By the way, I think those new chips offer not only brute crude power but also new coding dark powers that won't be compatible with present cards so one day we'll have plugs that will work only on this new gear.
I hope they won't restraint themselves at some point when enough people will have bought the new chips range of products, sure it will make some waves when the first XITE only plug will be announced
