Help needed: Please classify my music

Post by Richard Lichten »

Hi all,

i want to bring out an album i recorded using VSTi synths and Scope for production and need good marketing. However, i am not too sure about the genre it fits in and similar bands, so i decided to ask here for help. If you have some time: Below are two tracks of the album in good quality. Could you:

1.) name a genre the tracks in total best fit in
using a max of one additional adjective to normal style names(e.g. folk
death metal :) )

2.) and any band(s) you find similar.

1. otherland

2. clear view

Thank you very very much in advance !

This to me is clearly Electronica. Listen to anything by Klaus Schulze with his son.

definitely it is new wave from the 80's redressed with a few modern sounds.
reminds a lot of whith used to hear as a teen. especially the bass (first reminds mf the cure) then the pads are very similar to Dance Society's "come inside" (same sound at least, same ambience)....

it's a bit sad and dark, so it is definitely new wave :-)

whatever....

It seems like everyone is projecting their own experience onto it.

very 80-ish, at the dark side :-D
there's some 'minimal' component in it, but it lacks the todays approach of electronic music making.
not trendy, yet musically I'd say.

Thank you for all the contributions ! this is really helpful. If anyone is interested: i give some promotional copies of the album out. The price would be your time - you should listen to it and name your favourite songs, comment the song order, and what you didn´t like.

PM me !

Kind regards, Richard

i'm at work so i can't actually play your music, so i'm going to go with:

alt. psycho zither-core

or

intelligent thrash-prog synthadelica

Take your pic.

jean-michel jarre
pink floyd without guitars
nine inch nails' last album (ghosts)

you've a nice mixture there :D
