AMD and VIA Step Up To The Plate

Post by dawman »

Thanks to Dell the E8500's are spoken for until the end of the month.

E8400's are in stock everywhere for 220 USD and are damn near as fast, but everyone always wants the extra ooommph for 100 USD more, and unlocked multipliers.

I can wait.

But the good news is that AMD's CPU looks to be a great deal, and now an old designer with big pockets has joined the pow power CPU fray once again.

It looked as though Intel was going to put everyone else on the ropes, which would raise the prices of CPU's drastically in 2009, but thankfully two other developers are going to keep CPU prices from Intel low for all of us, at least until 2011.

The 8500 seems to be that one, the 8400's sure look sweet for 219 USD though.
