Anyone Buying XITE-1 In June ?

Post by dawman »

I understand that developers do not have to have XITE-1 to continue their creation of devices for Scope 5.0. This is good news. Especially if they have 3 x Pro DP's, or the SDK.

I know the platform will continue to grow and prosper.

I would like to know who else is going to buy XITE-1, and share some insights on how they are going to use it.

I plan on having extreme mixing capabilities for live / recording projects, and hope that Modular can continue to evolve. Having Adern's modules capable of higher polyphony would be a blessing, and using Modular alongside of big mixers, and SpaceF's Multi-Timbral Synth in the same project is going to be my first chore.

Since Solaris in hardware is due out soon, and I have my B4000, all of this extra DSP horsepower can be used in giant live projects.

Who knows, maybe 5.1 live surround sound @ 96Khz.

I am currently creating presets on MSynth, ProWave, and Modular in preparation of using them all together.

Surely I cannot be the only guy jumping in head first.

I'll probably get for live production and raw live mixing, and then link it up to the main studio machine for final mix..

GaryB is the man up over here.

Glad to see I won't be alone.

I really hope GaryB gets a demo to use so I can keep pestering him when he's trying to record and mix in his off time. :D

Well the main reason for me is to be able make the setup easier to manage. Right now I have 2 Macs. One running the old Mac OS and Scope and one running Mac OS X Leopard for everyhting else. With the new hardware I can get rid of a lot of stuff I need to connect the two systems. So this is going to save time and space. And time is what I lack the most.

There Ya' Go.

That's the biggest advantage I see.

Many of us can just record a track or so w/ big synths and mixers, then add / reload, etc. which is painful from lack of a smooth workflow.

I have sold 2 DAW's and with a single DAW, I plan on going to 64bit Gigastudio and XITE-1 for large live / recording scenario.

I cannot imagine this being released w/ the same old devices.

Gizzmo, new mixers and effects possibly, etc.

Having Modular, and Step Sequencers, etc.

I am so feverish to start.

I will be building a complex mixing project which is totally remote controlled.

with the extra power I can load synths... I use up 36DSP with mixing & sfx..Depending on how much more I can load I'll buy Xite.

I would add differnt reverbs for left and right channels. Build complex SFX modulars. add more delays.

I will use several spacef mixers. probably a couple going into a MB4. If I really can load an insane ammount of plugins, I'll use another MB4 for SFX and route it back into the MASTER MB4!

In the 4 master busses I will probably put LimFats and PysQs and SBCs and EQs...

on the MASTER out I will put a nice SFX rack in the right slot of Xover! I have
8 rotators dedicated for effects on master channel. With the extra power I will
have more/better effects here also.

basicly just go crazy like everybody else ??? :D

I can see this being used very effectively also.

Great ideas using hardware console style surfaces could make this the " Talk Of The Town ".

Germany is definately the place to be this summer.

I am just glad we have a good working trade agreement w/ them.

I'll probably be getting an Xite in June, although we also have to buy a Mac Pro with PCI-E to go along with it. :D

We'll be using it for synths mainly and live mixing. I want to run 50 instances of MiniMax, Pro-12, Solaris, etc. all simultaneously. ;)

I hope the OS X port works well. :o

That's Great To Hear Brotha' Man Shayne.

You guys have great sounding demos. Especially the re-done Binary Sea. It's a really professional sounding mix.

I visit my family in Sausalito twice a year.

PM me when you decide to start playing live, I would love to hear you guys.

Besides Rhonert Park / Santa Rosa is close to Highway 37. No problem detouring a little to hear XITE-1 live.

I got my order in with my computer guy.... as soon as they are available I got mine coming.

What will I use it for. Well, for more of everything thats what. I guess it'll take pride of place as my main interface on my DAW. My cards will probly end up in another comp as part of the audio farm.... hehe... I cant wait.

I may get one too ... Because :

1) I have sold all my boards except that which contains all the plugins I use a lot (DAS, Brainworx, Spacef, synth, zarg, etc ..) because I have planned to transfer the plugins to an Xite.

2) power is the main reason : powercore and UAD do not give enough power although a host of plugins sound very good. Soniccore offers synth, FX, a very good sound, no latency

3) Buying something I can use with a laptop or not looks like a good investment for me. I was initially tempted by a powercor x8 with sonnox plugins but an Xite give so much power and in/outs and flexibility so the choice is obvious !

4)I will use 2 computers very soon : one with sequoia and the other with samplitude (as this seq handles very well this). I will use Xite with SEQUOIA on a macbook pro as I need a laptop (and it is now possible to run Sequoia/Samplitude on windows XP (installed on a Mac). That means that the PC will "receive" my buses + add samples (GVI I suppose).

My projects tend to become increasingly accoustic (I mean that's where I want to go) and I should still work for audio/video projects and personal music projects too...

I am about to make my decision and the Xite has no competitor in 2008 for sure so....

I will probably get one when it comes out, although I may wait a little while to let you early adopters find the bugs first.

One thing that I'm interested in is the transfer of plugins from existing cards to the new unit, not just SC plugs but 3rd party - I don't really want to have to fork out much $$$ just to get the plugins I already use on my existing cards working on the X-Ite.

I'll be using it with my Mac Book Pro. I've hardly switched my PC DAW on since getting the Mac Book Pro (& Logic 8 ) but the possibility of using all my SC devices with the Mac Book is super exciting. I can chuck laptop, keyboard (little 2 octave job - MAudio ProKeys88 to bloody heavy to take anywhere!) and XIte in a bag and travel anywhere with it.

And I'll finally be able to use SpaceF's Multisynth without running out of juice!

Yes Ben, the MAcbook pro way sounds définitly good with the Xite : so much power easy to move/travel with... I will keep my rack PC with one sole soniccore board for the connection though

You Got That Right Brotha' Man Ben Walker.

Bowen, SpaceF, and Adern in the same project is worth the asking price 4 sure.

The below project just runs out of juice with each synth in Multi having 4 voices, and Solaris having only 4 voices.

I cannot even load a modular patch, and all of my ASIO2, and GSIF I/O's must be this small to make this project even workable.

More channels and mixers, more polyphony, and more plug ins will be like heaven.
