Zangsta Real 80-ies Industry !

Post by zangsta »

I just got to borrow a vinyl-player of a friend, I have been without one for a couple of years.

So I went for a record that was released on my label, Studio Urania, It´s My Head URLP1001 (1987)

The first track on it has a little story to it; after the intitial recording-days, we took a break,
and I was alone in the studio the next day, and did some sampling of the tracks we had recorded
to my EMAX, and played around with it on the little on-board sequencer, no fancy stuff like quantization...
just a few tracks to fool around with.
I ended up with something that to me was like a parody of It´s My Head/Steve Hubback.
I played it to Steve the next day, and after a few bars he turned to me
and said he loved it, it had to be on the record....?!?! :o

So Steve overdubbed a snare, we added some industrial
samples we got from the area behind the studio-house,
and at the end, Jörgen Cremonese came and added some spaced-out guitar.

For transfering the vinyl I just hooked the player to Scope2-card. got PhonoPreAmp
and Xtremecut Pro in the inserts. and recorded to Goldwave. Works beautifully!

Nice and trippy, has a unique sound quality also, you say it's vinyl?
I haven't heard an album played for years, my elderly parents don't even have one anymore.
I do occasionally play the 8 tracks tapes I have collected, and they have such a warm feel.

Cool Stuff....Welcome Back.

Yes, Jimmy, pure analog recording on vinyl..!
I had an ACES 1618-mixer then, a TASCAM-16 track and mixed to a REVOX B77 two-track.
At the time that was semi-professional equipment, low-budget stuff.. now it´s cult !
