inspired by 'sound on sound' articles
& based on the DX100 features ,

FM4 is a 4 Fm operators synth ,
each of them features an ADSR ,
velocity response & level control .
8 algorithms to route the operators
in a given order :
from 4 sinus generators to complex modulation matrix .

FM4's interface has been built with care :
no pop-up window or hidden menu .
Enjoy intuitively FM4's real power :
what you need is 'underneath'!
Discover a new range of punchy sounds
& precise textures :
bass ,leads ,keys ,percussions or fx ,
the 90 presets (!!!) show them all .
(THX to SPIRIT : the soundbank creator)

enjoy mjerom

You mean FM4 is free?
That's an exceptional deal.

this is an *awesome* little synth.. I really liked FeeMee but this is even better. Extremely nice sounds, great interface.

I LOVE the stereo insert rack - perfect for patching a filter in for cutoff-twiddling on the same MIDI channel. The click-hold ALGO window is a little bit strange looking but I can live with that.

More than anything else, I really love the fact that the polyphony doesn't seem to eat much DSP.. I can use this thing for pads and other poly stuff - something I couldn't really justify before on my 2 PulsarI's (I always do poly stuff on native synths usually to save on DSP).

Many thanks again!

I think you might want to make the insert ignore the preset, otherwise whan you change a preset the inseted effect dissapears (unless you resave all the presets with the effect inserted)

one of my synths has this problem as well

store in preset or not .
for some controls that 's a big problem.
about the stereo insert beta-users decided
to leave it like this .

After using this for a while, I must say I agree with Defex.. it would be great if the insert slot's state was NOT saved with the preset.

Please don't think I'm being an ungrateful brat, the synth still rules, but it's just that the insert slot's usefulness isn't as great as I thought it would be.

I'm getting round it by patching a regular Multi-FX device after FM4, set to the same MIDI channel, so I can tweak the effects in that while playing the synth. So no harm done, I can still do what I want to do

because there are no fx in da synth
then saving the preset with the insert is usefull !
if you do not want that just plug 'outside'

I thought about it a bit and you are right. doing it this way makes it more like a commercial synth where the effect is loaded with the patch.

the only disadvantage is making presets to trade with people who have different effects.

The FM4 is a fantastic little device. I was amazed at the sounds that just flowed out. Great stuff Mjerom ! As regards the insert effect: I was very tempted to program sounds using the insert as it adds a whole extra dimension. But in the end I left them empty (for people who didn't have the ProPack and others who would be routing direct to a mixer). But I think it's a great feature to store the effect with the patch: a screaming lead with perfectly tweaked distortion; a sweet key sound with pattern delay; a theme sound with a touch of reverb. I think this allows the device to be very carefully "tweaked" to your ideal sound. In this way I think it's faster and more flexible than having set routings in a project.

And all for free !

HI Mjerom!

Very cool device! I love this one, and as i understand it, it Spirit who did the presets? Well Spirit, they're pretty cool!

It very light on DSP, even a Luna user could load it and use a bunch of voices, this is nice. So, Luna users, get this one right away!

BTW, i like the look of this interface very much, the color you chosen have a nice 'eyes relaxing' contrast that make it easy to read.

This is the day I begin to like FM. Easy to edit, good overview, low DSP and very cool presets. Really a great work. Unbelievable that it is free ...
Thank you,
Thomas

Hey Mjerom! I'm using FM4 more and more, but there is a problem inside it... When i save a project that contain the FM4 and the MIDI chanel is set to anything but omni, i loose this setting when loading it back. I mean, i save the project with FM4 on cha2 and reload it on omni all the time, it's a bit annoying, so if you feel like improving it, you could fix that.

Except this, it sound fabulous!

Does this device only work under version 3 of Pulsar?
I'm still using version 2 and the device doesn't load into my set-up.

Thanks in advance.
