and then you run out of DSPs or do you get the pci bandwidth error?Inferman wrote:MSI P45 Platinum

Re: Masterverb Test Thread
FYI results from a P5Q SE Plus with 3x 15 DSP Scope pro: 13 Masterverb.
give access to 3.2 Gb of RAM
I do not recommend this motherboard, the BIOS doesn't have any settings for the PCI and have limited hardware config. The performance are "standard", not in the range of a gygabyte
cheers

Re: Masterverb Test Thread
I don't think it's Asus. I have an ABIT IP35 Pro which is considered a quite good mobo and with the same cards that score 15-16 Mverbs in an old Tusl2c it gets 12-13. I think the PCI bus in those newer mobos with Core2duo and PCI Express are less efficient. As I see no P35 mobo is capable of what some older Intel chipsets mobos were.stardust wrote:Asus is really loosing ground.
Re: Masterverb Test Thread
It is! I do not rely on the masterverb test but fromp everest rating on memory timings. They have the worse performance compared to Supermicro PDSBE, C2SBE and Gigabyte (same memory and CPU,disk, GC...).
Their BIOS might be nice for the overclocker (but I got inferior results compared to basic supermicro overclock feature !) but lack basic configuration options for a DAW.

Re: Masterverb Test Thread
Went back to my old Dell 5000 Dimension:
1) Intel 915GV Express-Chipset, Intel Pentium 4-Processor 3,00 GHz with HT enabled, 2 MB L2-Cache, 800 MHz FSB, 2 GB RAM
2) 1x Scope 15 DSP Z-Link, 1x SRB 14 DSP
3) 128MB PCI Express x16 ATI Radeon X300 with DualDisplay enabled and Matrox TripleHead2Go to support 3x 1680x1050
4) 17 Masterverbs, pci bandwith error at the 18th
Still amazed how stable this 4 year old daw runs, a lot stabler than my former 3x15 DSP setup on a Dell Dimension 8400...
Cheers

Setup:
Asus P5NE-SLI Chipset: nForce 650i SLI SPP
2GB PC6400 RAM
Intel E6600
OS: XP SP3
1xLuna II
1xPulsar XTC
total 9 DSP
Result:
15 Masterverbs, then DSP limit.

Re: Masterverb Test Thread
It looks like you could have loaded more if you had more DSP's ...
I see the synth polyphony window...not the PCI bandwidth thingamajig..?

ooops, typo... ofcourse i ment DSP
I'll correct that!

That reminds me of the old NForce 3 chipset w/ AMD FX....

Re: Masterverb Test Thread
Thats the downside, it's only got 2 PCI ports
I think the more reasonable route for me is to swap the Luna with a BIG card. Im just waiting for people to sell them to me for next to nothing.

Re: Masterverb Test Thread
yup, noticed it yesterday, the 915 chipset must be one of the scope lovers

i'll try to optimise a bit, maybe i'll be able to set a new record. for now no doubledawg used, and there's even an irq sharing going on with one of the cards, nevertheless it's working like a charm...

You'll sell yourself for a 15 chip Scope Pro? And - does that include plugins?next to nothing wrote: Im just waiting for people to sell them to me for next to nothing.

Re: Masterverb Test Thread
I thought I'd share my findings on the DP35DP.
I remember me and GaryB did this when we installed the motherboard in 2007, and I believe with 3 cards we got the same number.
I had this Scope Dual MIDI / Dual ADAT Type II in a 3 x card DAW and never really noticed how powerful it was until I isolated it.
It doesn't even ask for optimisation until 13 are loaded then you get 5 more before it asks to decrease the polyphony, which pretty much means when you see the 1020 + on each chip you won't get anymore loaded as the levels are maxxed out.
But if anyone is looking for a 15 Chip card, I strongly suggest this particular design, as I have had Type I's, DP's and Type II's of the AES/EBU and Classic design, but this particular board loads so much more in terms of synths and polyphony when using Bowen synths, I do not have the answers why other than I have owned 9 Pro's and 3 Projects, and 1 x 4 DSP Pulsar I board, and this model just seems to have no end.
Even when it goes into the red zone it will not shut down, and continue working.
However when re loading the Project, it will not allow to recall that particular saved project, but, will allow to record and play w/o any difficulty prior to saving the project.
I'm not trying to sell this as it has already been promised to someone, but if you see one like this....grab it !!
I can load Prowave with Rotor stacks and CEM's w/ 8 voice polyphony in the default STM1632 project, and have the insert effects rack stacked as well.

Re:
I own a sony rb30 which also holds the intel 915 express family motherboard, just a sony oem version, and Intel Pentium 4-Processor 3,00 GHz, 2 MB L2-Cache, 800 MHz FSB. i have 2gb ram, nvidia 8800gt, 1x luna2 3dsp, 1x scope pro 14 dsp cards, and i am only able to load 4 masterverbs where the fifth causes pci overflow. i tryed switching cards in the 2 pci slots and exact same results. any ideas? thankskatano wrote:1) Intel 915GV Express-Chipsatz, Intel Pentium 4-Processor 3,00 GHz, 2 MB L2-Cache, 800 MHz FSB, 1GB RAM
2) 1x Scope 15 DSP, 1x PulsarII 6 DSP
3) 128MB PCI Express x16 ATI Radeon X300 with DualDisplay enabled
4) 16 Masterverbs, no PCI limit
Not to bad for such a cheap Dell Dimension 5000...
Has anyone tested with a magma pci-chassis?

what else is plugged into a pci slot?
Re: Masterverb Test Thread
theres only 2 pci slots, both used with the 2 cards. im pretty sure that theres no irq sharing, heres a scrrenshot of my irqs

Re: Masterverb Test Thread
To see if your IRQs aren't shared, go to start menu -> run, type winmsd, hit enter, see in the hardware tree if there are IRQs shared.

what's in a pci-e slot?
