Just wondering, need something to think about till it comes out.
What is the beta like, for any lucky person that got to try it?
kimgr said in another post on the subject of gui speed...
For some reason it seems slower in version 3.x than in 2.x, but the good news is that it seems much better in SFP 3.1
Does this mean you've tried it kimgr?

Yes, I'm using SFP 3.1 beta.

Please don't ask any "specific" questions, as I can't/are not allowed to answer them !

What I can tell you is that it's the best Creamware OS yet, but I guess you already kind of knew that

Not quite sure what your obsession with 2.04 being compatible with 3.1 is...
BUT:
surely the sensible thing is to load up your 2.04 projects into 3.01 and save them there so you don't have any 2.04 projects.

so V3.1 can't properly load 2.04 and even 3.01s?
V3.01 can't properly load V2.04s.

big mixer bugs fixed?
mod2 bugs fixed?
STS bugs fixed?
WDM for 98?
GIGA beta drive for XP?
Support Dual CPU?
PCI limit bug fixed?

I am not sure how you derive any of that from my comments.

Backwards compatibility is the bane of any developers life I can tell you - without having ANY inside information I can tell you that it will be compatible with 3.x it may not be compatible 2.x. SO for the same reason that you back your data up every so often I would make sure that all your important projects are saved in 3.x. Better safe than sorry as with all I.T. is the best policy in my opinion.

As for the rest of your worries - I get the impression that this next release hasn't got any major new features but is about making everything work better so chances are they have all been fixed. Lets face it you have a major in your face pain in the ass attitude so I am sure Creamware are aware of these problems - maybe thats what the delay is - fixing them to keep you happy

At least half of those issues don't even effect you dxl?

WDM for win98? PCI overflow? That's your motherboard. I can load 10 masterverbs in 3.01 on Intel i850, and at least 12 on the good old CUSL2.

DXL,

WDM for 98:
I have never seen Creamware say this would happen why do you ask about it?

Giga:
I have it already and working 32channels
perhaps you missed that post

PCI limit:
is NOT a bug it will never be gone...get a better motherboard if you have this problem simple as that.

BigMixer:
what happens if it's not even in 3.1?

STS:
Creamware know and are working on certain things, I see you missed that post as well.

DUAL:
Yup ACPI bad... besides a single chip 35-45% bigger then one of the dual chips is the same power with less overhead...

WDM...... just asking
coz some others have that drive

PCI..... i have totally no problem with V2 and some others have that problem when upgrade to V3.
the you guys did say V3 uses more PCI bandwith.
i very seldom have the PCI overflow problem, but i can never shut my PC properly after useing over 4DSP.

sub, the gigadrive effct me, the big mixer, WDM (so that i can play around with SOnar.) the PCI..... you know. the compatibility... so important... STS... not very useful(too much DSP) and controlable. and not very smooth, you all know. Dual CPU, i'm thinking about getting one in the future.

no big mixer?
force to use pulsar mixer? which use 2 times more DSP than big mixer? and only 8 recording bus?
"Lets face it you have a major in your face pain in the ass attitude so I am sure Creamware are aware of these problems"
yar right.... pathetic.
ass attitude? oh. ok then, hows the email support go better?

J. i ask it again becuase your answer isn't very strightforward.

oh one important question.
fully support XP yet?

PCI limit bug fixed?
what is that? i never see nothing similar in my life!

p.s. cw said that know for "cd access" problem - but i don't know is it already fixed and who must fix that - cw, bill gates, adaptec...who?

DXL
this will be the last reply to you and only because you spread malinformed info.

PCI yep and if you would have followed the thread instead of stating things out of context. As far as I knew that was already fixed.

BigMixer
Never said it wouldn't be,merely said what if...

And Pulsar mixer doesn't use double the dsp..
again I suggest you set it up the same as the bigmixer you'll see. Remember to set it up exactly the same.
only 16 stereo tracks connected in the Pulsar mixer with only 8 busses used don't forget to route to the busses in the bigmixer and Pulsar mixer or there not using dsp...
then remember to load 32 mono compressors into the Bigmixer and turn the inserts off. OK perhaps that's not fair?? only load 24 of them then.
Then compare.

And rememeber no one can force you to do anything you don't want to.

See - look whats happened here DXL - I made a comment about your posting in a light hearted manner - hence the smiley - you surely can't denny you have an attitude. You miss read me - I did not call you pathetic - and get all worked up. Calm down - read carefully and you might get further. There is a "rule of thumb" for netiquette which is "count to ten before posting anything" - which means think carefully before leaping in with both feet.

My comment was simply aimed at aknowledging in a light hearted fashion that your points are unlikely to have been missed by anyone.

relax

An important (for me) question to those who has SFP 3.1 beta.

We all already know that there are 24-bit WDM drivers. Ok. But there were another issue with those Wave modules in XP - 16 channels only (even in Windows settings). So, is it fixed? Can I have more than 8 stereo (24 bit?) Wave modules actually working in my project now with 3.1?
