Early post-metal mix (Neurosis/Cult of Luna)

Post by voidar »

A project I am working on. Just finished tracking today so this is a pretty early mix. Also I know the bottom end is a bit perverse, and it's an attribute of the Tube Taper device :P.. Too much "THUMB", but I just love how it glues a mix together.

I went for a Steve Albini drum sound and I'm pretty satisfied with the results. First off .

OH - 2 x Kel HM-1, Recorderman setup (I really dig this!)
ROOM - 2 x Kel HM-1, delayed 40ms.
HIGH TOM - Senn e906
LOW TOM - ATM250 (should have choosen the e906 I think)
SNARE - Shure Beta 57A
KICK - Audix D6

Mics went through 8 Seventh Circle Audio T15 preamps.

Guitars are a e906 (high-boost) and HM-1 mix.

Bass is DI and D6.

Mixing on the platform of course ;)..

Please share thoughts.

Yeah.....A Thrashy Scoper..
I like the sounds, what drums were those?...They sounded as if they were mic'd.

Oh yes, it is all miced. The kit was pretty high-end.

Great band and performers. It's really a pleasure to work with bands that can play tight.

BTW. When I said "working on" I meant I am the technician.
