are new SC-reverbs so PCI heavy??
are new SC-reverbs so PCI heavy??
i have scope+pulsar1+luna with an asus p4c800-e deluxe
i was fighting with some DSP low memory error with sfp 5.0
http://forums.planetz.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28057
when i tried the "PCI test", i.e. starting from a completely blank projcet and load as many device you can, before getting either DSP overflow or PCI overflow error.
the results:
i can load 12 masterverb pro before getting the PCI overflow error (DSP load is not yet full).
if i make the test with the new SC-reverb i get overflow after:
2 SC-ambience
3 SC-plate
4 SC-inverse
4 SC-RMX160
i feel that this is really strange! how can these revebs be so heavy with respect to masterverb pro??
for SC-chorus delay DSP limit is reached before PCI overflow.
beside this, i can load 10 dynatube guitar before PCI overflow.
do you have the same behaviour or it's really my system to have something weird? maybe the first generation pulsar1?
thanks!

Re: are new SC-reverbs so PCI heavy??
hey !
did you try to play with cset.ini settings, where you add those lines for boards :
[board0]
boardid=1 and so on....
if i add those lines and load large project, i don't get error message for DSP load error and
then askes me that i can try DSP optimization, then project loads,
but if i find proper combination in cset.ini i can load almost full DSP project (15DSP) without any
Scope error.
configuration:
2xPulsar II XTC + Luna II
Scope 5 - SONIC_CORE_SCOPE_PCI_v5.0.2609_EN

Re: are new SC-reverbs so PCI heavy??
yes, i did that optimization, and scope is the host board.
the "problem" here is to have an idea of the benchmark in loading reverbs obtained by other users...

Re: are new SC-reverbs so PCI heavy??
I have a Pulsar 2 and just tried it out. I can load just 4 instances of SC-RMX160 before the out of dsp memory appears.

i know what you mean,
i just have that experience, that if i find proper combination in cset.ini for cards, i'm able to
load to the end of DSP meter or load huge project at once and not with DSP error,
if i'll have some extra time, i'll try to test that with reverbs,

Re: are new SC-reverbs so PCI heavy??
Well those reverbs have always been notoriously PCI hungry. I'm lucky if I can even load one of them in a project without getting PCI overflow messages, but then one of my cards is an old Pulsar I so that might have something to do with it.
Re: are new SC-reverbs so PCI heavy??
thank king of the snakes!
this make sense and so i can begin to think that it's not my system to have something wrong!
let's wait for a check by a person who has only generation 2 boards!

Re: are new SC-reverbs so PCI heavy??
ok, made some tests:
14 Masterverb Pro - with loaded 15th PCI capacity reached
1 SC-ambience - loading 2nd dsp limit reached
4 SC-plate - loading 5th dsp limit reached
6 SC-inverse - loading 7th dsp limit reached
7 SC-RMX160 - no overflow, with 8th loaded just PCI capacity reached
2 x Pulsar XTC + Luna II = 15dsp
Scope 5

best,

Re: are new SC-reverbs so PCI heavy??
i have more DSP power than fidox but can only manage:
1x SC-Ambience before overflow
3x SC-Plate before overflow
4x SC-Inverse before overflow
6x SC-RMX160
5x SC-Chorus Delay
Can't load MasterVerb Pro as my keyfile isn't right. i've found another bug. Emailing Ralf now.
Pulsar2 + SRB = 21 DSPs
Scope 5

Re: are new SC-reverbs so PCI heavy??
thank you again!
so it's really the device which is PCI hungry!
regarding masterverb pro: i had the same problem, and i never undestood the reason of the odd behaviour. one day it worked, the day after not. the problem seems not in the keys
i emailed ralf for that and he said:
"I think, for some reason Scope 5.0 found the older masterverb device and the scope 5.0 masterverb-key can't unlock this masterverb.dev for Scope5.0
I think it makes no sense to send you another key, because it will be the same, that is always in your Scope5.0 keyfile."
my SFP4.5 directory was moved, so there were no posibility of loading the "old" files...
i finally solved by reinstalling SFP5!

Re: are new SC-reverbs so PCI heavy??
btw on the original Sonic Timeworks version of the plate reverb there was a "light PCI" version too but I guess the Soniccore version is just the full plate algorythm.
Re: are new SC-reverbs so PCI heavy??
Does the 5.1 Room come with Scope 5.0.?
I see no mention of it above.
The SC-Plate-X and the 5.1 Room are all I will ever need.
The Plate is actually a misleading name. This reverb can do early reflections, rooms, halls and mullti-taps w/ ease. The 5.1 has less editing but the sound is excellent.
Unless I start doing film/foley work where realistic small spaces is crucial, hardware won't be needed.

Oh yes, we have thatXITE-1/4LIVE wrote:Does the 5.1 Room come with Scope 5.0.?

PS. i now have MasterVerb working thanks to Ralf D - 11 instances only though.
Re: are new SC-reverbs so PCI heavy??
Well that should be plenty.
In all honesty for recording an all in one pass, I can't see the need for more than 5 reverbs.
1 x AUX could have the smallest space like the EReflect.'s, and another AUX w/ the Biggest space. Then there's always 1-3 special instances.
But that's a more traditional approach where the engineer can envision a stage and place the tracks like performers, according to where they are seated on a stage.

Re: are new SC-reverbs so PCI heavy??
SC-Room 5.1 = loaded 8x (9th DSP capacity reached)
cheers,

Re: are new SC-reverbs so PCI heavy??
I usually load Ambience, Plate and a Chorus-Delay. It's all I need in a project when it comes to gluing a mix together. Sometimes I substitute Plate for an RMX160.
Chorus-Delay on "Stereo Enhancement" setting is very cool on guitars. 'Makes them come out of the speakers.

Hi all !
Can someone please explain the settings in cset.ini regarding the boards .
"Fidox wrote"
"did you try to play with cset.ini settings, where you add those lines for boards :

I would like to try it , sence I have some problems with DSP overload , I´ve got 3 Pulsar2 cards and can´t open more than :
3 SC Ambience
1 Masterverb pro
1 Delay
????????????????????
/ Thanx

hey,
i was talking from my experience, that if i set proper cset.ini settings/order for my cards ,
then i can load big project (almost full to 15dsp) without "optimize DSP" window,
i have 2 X Pulsar XTC + 1 X Luna II,
but as you can see i can load just 1 x SC ambience, then error appears,
so i think it's connected to scope 5, cause all other old modules works normally until i reach DSP limit,
those settings for cset.ini are mentioned in Creamware book i have, but i think it's mentioned somewhere in pdf document,
not sure, cause i didn't check,
best,
matej
Re: are new SC-reverbs so PCI heavy??
Hi ,Ok !
I got it , made some test myself adding the lines
[board0]
boardid=1
[board1]
boardid=2
[board2]
boardid=3
Numboards=3
and it works much better with no DSP overload
This "topic" woke me up
Thanx everyone !

nice !!!
just,
if [board0], then boardid=0 and so on...
for example, mine best settings for 3 cards,
[board0]
boardid=0
[board1]
boardid=2
[board2]
boardid=1
