I recall getting my keys over the weekend - took almost a day, but I'm also 9 hours earlier

I know he is more than happy to help.
This is really great having so many guys with XITE-1's.
Surely someone in Europe is going to do live DJ or a live synth gig now. These weapons belong in battle. Not in private studios... :D
I probably won't try gigging with my Xite until sometime next year.
Having too much fun in the studio trying things out and setting up various configurations that COULD eventually be used live.

I'm the one with XITE-1 serial #2 (Jimmy V. has got the pole position :D ) and my unit is still rocking without stopping! :) So I haven't much time to post

I got mine a while ago, but only very recently managed to set it up...

ATM things seem to be working, including the Z-link to the A16U. I am having some issues related to the graphics card, but I'll have to look deeper into it, as it might be broken, or maybe it's a case of IRQ sharing (which will be hard to solve, as all PCI-E slots seem to be using #16).

Updating Live to v.8.0.5 did solve a few of the problems I had in the beginning.

I'll post some more info as soon as I get everything working.

Cheers,

T

BTW - has anybody tried the XITE on a MacPro (and bootcamp)?

Congrats Brotha' Man Tau.
Glad to see you in the mix.
I have a Mac buddy who wants me to let him mess around w/ XITE-1 and Bootcamp and VE Pro. I am a little reluctant, but if I get more than a couple of weeks off I'll try it.

Cheers.

I'am not an Xiter and probably never will
I don't understand why they haven't produced yet a half Xite-1 : Symbolic Sound which I think is not a big company either, issued a Paca with half the power of Pacarana *at the same time*
Twisted logic or lack of commercial sense from SC ?
A half priced / half powered Xite would have more than 3 Powerpulsar power with the price of one ... and the old boards still for sale ... remaining stocks ?
I'am not interested in investing in underpowered old cards and not willing to pay more than 1500 euros
Maybe NAMM 2010 ? :-?

There are a number of faults in your logic. First of all. I am quite sure we will NEVER see a ½ power ½ price Xite½. You don't cut the cost in half from removing half of the DSPs.

The case does not get cheaper
The hardware Inputs and outputs does not get cheaper (I suppose you don't want a mono unit)
Which half of the software do you want them to remove? Full software at the same price?

A ½ price ½ power unit will make the Xite1 obsolete, as almost will want to get the double I/O count at the same price. A smaller unit will either be less than half power or more than half price.

Second, they already had to suffer quite big delays getting Xite1 ready. Should they delay the introduction of this ground breaking piece of hardware so they could launch an Xite½ at the same time? Delaying releases in a high tech world is usually a rather bad idea which only serves to help the competition getting ahead of you (or closer to you).

Actually after they have reached their target sales of the XITE-1 a smaller unit could be a possiblity.
Just speculating, but once compatability mode isn't necessary, that would take the 6 x SHARCS of yore off of the PCB, and then cut out the mic pres, and use 8 x new AD21369's maybe...?
That would be a great way to expand the user base, and also it would be a Home Studio kind of box for the desktop, w/ optional I/O capabilities.
But the Pacarana sales are not doing as well as the Paca from what I can tell. A local DJ here has a maxxed out 320 and bought the Paca because of the backwards compatability and he only needed a little more juice since he is starting to use more synths.
Many guys were happy with their 320's already.
The Pacarana would be a killer tool for someone new to the platform though.
My God,....an XITE-1 w/ a Pacarana, I would be adored by the Gods themselves..
BTW, Dr. Scaletti is so cool to speak to. I was going to buy the 320 but she actually talked me into buying the Scope cards once she understood what I was trying to do. That was 10 years ago. She's a real synth babe too, I think she told me she had the ARP2600S....
I always liked having babes buying devices for me, but having one build them for me.......Now that's fit for a King........ :D

I just saw that you got the xite-1.........COOLNESS.
pm me after you install the drivers, and don't expect me to get all scientific and shit. I can help with the loads as I know by heart what each synth uses in the DSP meter.....

Have a Blast.

Maybe sometime in the future, but I doubt a 'half' Xite would be half the cost, and half the horsepower is relative in DSP terms.

At some point I could see S/C doing expander units similar to Plugiators or V-Machines, but again this takes time and money, and these other boxes already exist in the 'middle' market that may or may not become saturated over the next few years. Having been in the hardware development side of various industries for almost 30 years, I can say that none of this is an easy task.

However, it IS theoretically easier to 'downscale' a larger platform such as Xite than it is to expand a smaller unit, so I think S/C is starting out with the best approach.

Greg

p.s. I'm wondering when someone will just park a Scope Pro or 'Home' card in a PCI expander chassis and see how well that works... :P

I know I sound easy sounding as if the DSP are 100 % of the price, depending of models it's 30 $ + per 1 000 pieces.
I'am aware the other part of the hardware will remain a constant whatsoever but how much ? and how much costs a XITE-1 for SC ? the cost of making a scaled down board of the DSP should be manageable otherwise I don't know how the guys pulling modules like crazy recently on the eurorack format are doing ! :P
Not complaining about the price of the XITE-1 by the way ...
If a half XITE-1 was to be made that were more than twice successful than XITE-1, it would be a good thing for SC because those people could buy later the plugs not provided firsthand.
As for plugs provided for a half XITE-1, once the registration done a free choice of half plugs in each category ...
The price hasn't to be strictly half like up to 2 000 so that XITE-1 is still very attractive.
In the meantime I'll wait even when I'll have the money ...

Must be few more out there, surely, or are they still only trickling out from Germany?

PS I'm keeping the above list up to date as people let us know their's has arrived.
