2. is anybody notifice STS distortions with SFP in XP?
3. can anybody "translate" - hm, on english too - but with other (simple) words, please?!
The following functions are only possibly with admin rights in Windows 2000/XP:

- Loading Akai CDs
- Using the samplers

Translation:

If you have more than one userprofile in win 2000/winXP, only one of them will be admin(istrator). You will need to use this userprofile to have acces to your samplers. If you do not know, what I am talking about, you will very likely only have 1 userprofile in winXP (if you install it again

Not yet. I am not working digitally with music at the moment, as I have to practise a lot of piano. Also, I went back to win98se chubby, and had no more CD-problems

I think the filter issue was fixed; haven't seen it yet... not sure what the "distortions" thing you mention, maybe thats the same thing?

So far sounds good.

I never could duplicate your CD problem on my XP. Not sure what I'm doing "wrong" ... maybe I can make that happen eventually.

But I agree, finish important things before moving on, at least to a new OS. SFP will install on your current OS without interrupting your other install, BTW. (Backups are always a good thing still).

I've also got a simple question... can I load any of my older projects in 3.1? Mainly because I've got active projects right now, and I really can't afford loosing compatibility.. Maybe it's better if I just stick to 3.01 'till I finish them.. but maybe the projects will end up better if I just went ahead and upgraded.. tough choice.

Anyone mirroring the update by the way? I've got server space so if anyone is interested in taking the time to upload it to my server, please contact me.

ok, at0mic, write 100x:
I promise I will no more fiddle with the FTP program before the upload finishes.

At 50% now uploaded, should be there in about one hour

ps. If anyone knows an FTP program which supports resume upload, would be welcome, just for in case...

there could be a problem with cdroms/cd-r access with sfp under xp and i think also under w2k, if you got any of these try upgrading your ASPI drivers because for some reason the aspi drivers in XP are fucked up.

it will solve it all!

cheers,
sander

It is supposed to work. creamware had it quite high in the list.

You can probably install them side by side and still run 3.01 (or whatever you are running) with the new driver. there is a trick to make it work, you have to copy one of the files from new to old folder. cant remember which and i am at work, but if you search you can probably find out how.

this is probably better for your old projects because there might be small differences in the devices, and other things may throw off your sound. (depends how far along you are as well i guess)
