pulsar 1 scope
greetings all.need help on this .i have a old pulsar 1 card (4 dsp) and trying to connect a focusrite isa one digital mic pre amp from the optical out to the optical in on the card.i then selected a adat 16 source device and connected to asio destination device in the environment section of the card.i only get a high pitch squeal , is this correct?-do i need upgrades from creamware ? .im currently using cubase 5 .i havent as yet tried the spdif connections on both the pre amp or the pulsar card.also are there any diagrams of the environment to see if i have setup the card properly?.many thanks al ditrich

Re: pulsar 1 scope
the adat i/o is 8 channel. if you are trying to use it as an optical sp/dif, it won't work, although i believe the pulsar2 offered the option of adat i/o being used as sp/dif. there's a checkbox to change the behavior from optical sp/dif to adat and back in the samplerate window(don't think that a p1 can do it though).
in any digital connection, it's vital that you only have one masterclock. either scope or your focusrite must be master, if the focusrite doesn't have an optical input, it must be master and Scope must be slave to adat. once again the settings are in the samplerate window.

Re: pulsar 1 scope
you actually CAN use one of the Pulsar One's Adat ports as S/PDIF, and it's mentioned in the manual which one works.
The other one may be selected in the Samplerate Dialog, but will fail to operate properly.
But on the Pulsar One you CANNOT do S/PDIF 'roundtrips' (send via S/PDIF to an external processor and receive the result on S/PDIF).
cheers, Tom
