How to measure the sky - Dropout [new album 02/09/2012]

Post by erminardi »

Hello to all people here on PlanetZ, after a little difficult period I'm back for (finally) annunce the exit of my new album:
"How to measure the sky"

Happy listening:

More info, download or/and buy: http://www.cactusound.com

Notes: Part of this work was commissioned for a Mondadori Ragazzi Editions novel “Nemmeno un bacio prima di andare a letto”, written by Manuela Salvi and published in October 2011. http://www.nemmeno1bacio.it
So is sung and played in a rather naive way because the main character is a guy who plays home-music and sings in italian accent english [just like me...] ;)

These songs came into the world during a 2-week trip to London on February 2011, while I was wandering in the streets, and was taking notes of the things around.

The main aim of this project was the creation of songs lasting few minutes, as the classic pop-rock 45rpm single songs, with a touch of ’70s into a contemporary sounds.

Love it :)

Very cinematic, more of a french sound to it rather than italo, and with some clear audio-references (strictly subjective) to the "drive" and "Lost in translation" soundtrack on some of the tracks, which is a good thing.

The "naive" singing is understandable with the references you write here, maybe you shoud do a more clear reference of that on Soundcloud as well? I see the project is described, but most people listening will just read the descriptions rather than actually clicking the links. It actually makes a difference.

Very nice levels and effects, and THANK YOU for keeping an eye (or ear, rather) on dynamics!

I loved the muted/plucked sounds on no escape #7.................what were you using...? Really nice, and then the Guitar I heard later made me think it was a GUitar, but I don't think so.

Hi Jimmy, thanks, these are both guitars, the plucked one is a archtop-guitar in parallel with NI FM7 (midi triggered from the same guitar audio track: a little successful experiment with the cubase "audio to midi feature")
the second one is a Fender Stratocaster with a reverb rig, play muted to emulate the water effect.

Sounds like that in the right place can sell a song.
I remember a Paul Young song that made people snore, then a 2 bar Fretless Bass turnaround after the verse sold the tune.
