Hi there,

I have decided to do a completly new XP partition strictly for audio, I will be installing SFP 3.1 and I am wondering if anyone can help me out on tips for the installation? I have read all the threads on this forum and can't seem to get any firm answers.

i.e.

-Is it advicable or not to disable ACPI during the install?
"I have heard both too install in standard PC mode and/or acpi mode"

Is there any difinitive set of tweaks that have been proven to work?

and any other installation tips/links would be great.

thanks for the help,

nuence

-Windows XP does quite a good job at ACPI, but if I were not on a dual CPU config, I'd get Standard PC still I think. Make sure you do not have IRQ conflicts.

-Follow the guide here

-I would only turn System Restore off once everything's installed and running smooth.

-From a clean machine, install Video-card and LAN first, to get WinUpdate. Then insert the DSP card(s) into your pc and install SFP.

-Then see which of the tweaks on the above link applicable to your machine -and apply them

-Defrag after each program install, even if Windoze tells you it's not necessary.

You should be fine then

Another very usefull link, when you're starting form zero. I took it from the Win2k/XP twxeaks page here:
