Dell Dimension 3000

Post by YISH313z »

Anybody use this PC for Scope 4 or 5.

It has 3 pci slots, no pci express though and a classic 2.8ghz P4 processor.

I'm really wondering about the integrated Intel video chip, is it good enough for the Scope Devices to run Smooth(No jerking/ slowness!), I can still purchase an AGP card if it is needed. Though, Scope will be the only thing on this PC, so no games or any other Graphic intensive apps.

I do need to upgrade the ram which luckily, is still available new.

Right now , my Scope system on the p35 intel board is good but I feel I'm wasting my dual core purchase, I changed to standard PC Role because the Dual chip seems to get in the way when dealing with the STS samplers, which is the foundation of what I use Scope for, also I am still unable to get Scope 5 to be stable, and with 4.0 I'm having random midi lockups of which I'm at a lost for its source.

it's not the processor or motherboard, unless they are actually defective. ditto the rest of the hardware.

the Dell should certainly work though. who knows? maybe the old P4s really will allow more sampler use. i don't think that anyone's really done a scientific study. i don't think that the machine is setup properly. the DP35DP is almost as battle tested as the D865PERL.

It very well may be a defective Motherboard, when it first arrive, and while I viewed the BIOS setup, it locked up on a few occasions while in the BIOS.
