jhulk, interesting info that, will take a note for future refernce as it might make a nice first project for a budding DIYer. I guess for someone with a bit of electronics know how and a little spare time it would be the way to go, although it might not be quite so straight forward for some.
and to just add another humble opinion, I use this one (I think I'll get bashed by the pros for this one ). It's not exactly discrete, but offers room correction (mid-lows) and connection for two pairs of speakers. You can even feed it digitally. It works pretty well for me and my xite.
Tested it with 1 speaker thru the pot and one directly from my da Converter.
Level Matched to 0.1 db. Da Converter is a Pcm 1794 from Ross Martin-Speakers Adam P22a with ICE Amps.
I stopped looking at Expensive simple Volume Solutions after that.It is 100% Transparent. There is a Slight l/R Mismatch on the very Bottom Position but as i dont ever use it there, doesnt Bother me.
I would never use these at work but for Home use its more then good...
And to answer the original Question about the Dangerous unit. Its the real deal.Nothing ITB comes close, you have to use it in a mix situation. Its really that good. But you need good Converters. So its not really a cheap solution.

And I also only have the old A16 18bit 44.1/48khz ADDA converter. So I guess I would need to upgrade that as well, wouldn't I?

Yes.Something like a Lynx Aurora 16 with the LT adat card.Or the new Antelope Orion.Wouldnt use anything lesser then that as the chain of all devices should be of high class.Maybe even the new Ferrofish.I havent heard it but People seem to like it so Demo a few units if you can.
Thanks for the heads up Fluxpod. Due to funding that might have to be a mission for later on.
BTW: I've only just returned to recording after a complete 7 year break. I've been ITB completely for the last year, and had no need for the ADDA converter. But, it just occured to me, are people using ADAT to connect to OTB hardware such as compressors and EQs etc, as well as synths and multi ins and whatever?

If the Devices have Adat or S/pdif or Aes/Ebu connections then yes.But not always. You have the choice. As Example the H8000 has Aes-Adat Analog Outputs and Inputs. How you connect them is up to you.
Thanks.
One more question. How does the Lynx LT-USB connection integrate with the Scope GUI. Is it a plugin, or does it appear as an ADAT A and B like the A16? Also, would a firewire connection also show up in Scope?
