I think it would be good to have a simple X/Y device which would out two assigned independent controllers - not really hard to make, what do you think?

Or perhaps a more complex device such as Vector controller (maybe even with variable number of points or "corners") which outs the distance from "joystick point" to each of "corners". Well?

Try one of the Neutron 7 devices.
Several have a XY controller that also outputs midi data.
Unfortunatley you can't use the Micro set to 0 voices to save DSP 'cause it does'nt output any midi data when set to 0.
(update perhaps, hint, hint defex)

But use the DePhaser or DeFilter, they are quite easy on the DSP.

I know these devices. Moreover, Micro and Type W are among my favorite synths. And it is them what inspired this idea. And that's why I would like to have such X/Y device standalone, without "low-DSP-load" addition.
Besides, it's only X/Y, and a Vector would be really cool as well.

i made a vector crossfading modular patch a bit back. it lacks a nifty joystick but one could be set up via midi as the x and y axes are availible for adjustment at two bipolar value modules.

not suprisingly it was called vectra, maybe not exactly what your looking for but the vector parts of it are there for anyones perusal.

its in the modular patches section.

Thanks, but I meant actually a device with visual joystick.

Btw, I personally find it not too comfortable to use other's Modular patches except for just using presets. I prefer building my own knowing where is what and how it works - and why the heck I made it this way. Maybe this would change with the advent of Modular Custom Control Surface or something.

But for now I'm talking exactly about "joystick-type" devices...

I can make one just like the joystick in the micro, but with nothing else. it will not be XTC compatible or anything though. (i have some problems using it in DP 3.x it could be me though)

i do not know if i can make it larger, i will try that as well though.

I am sure it will not take long, since it does not need a preset list or anything
