i got a pulsar1 plus with xlr inputs(balanced right?), i also got an luna2 board with unbalanced inputs. my preamp is an presonus blutube it has both xlr(balanced) and jack (unbalanced) outputs. I connect the balanced outputs of the blutube to the balanced inputs of my pulsar1. when i set the gain on my blutube so the meter peaks at 0db my recordings peak at -20 db, if i connect my blutube balanced out to the jack input of my luna( xlr to jack cable) my
recordings peak at -10db. why is the luna jack inputs louder than the pulsar xlrs?, i thought it was suppose to be the other way around. The -20db pad of the bluetube are not inserted. iv checked with both the vu meters in cubase and pulsarmixer they both state -20db/-10db.
I really want to be able to crank up my recordings to 0db using balanced xlr, since xlr gives me less noise. For the record i can gain up to 18db (on the levelmeter) from my bluetube but this colorises the sound to much for my taste and its noisy.

ps: i agree in the actions taken against dxl, but i give him one thing "I still see new things in life" is a great quote/statement.

later.

well - I know this doesn't answer your question - but the prosonus is pretty weak, IMHO and you can crank better preamps a little harder. even the ART stuff is way nicer to my ears . ..

good luck on the tech problem though
