Heavy things. My first thought was: "I don´t like this." .
And of course, it´s a bit arrogant from apple to do such a move. "Whatever - maybe i´ll switch to another sequencer now" was the second thought. But then i have to admit that both of them - apple AND emagic - have some big things in common: Very good support pages & hotlines as well as a quite flexible approach on your working style. The big point for me: Everything comes from one dealer. That means i can get me a powerbook & Logic plus emagic hardware, and if something makes trouble i can happily go with a mad grin to my local apple dealer, grab his arm and whistle into his ear:"You´ve got two hours - it´s YOUR fault right now."

Hello guys,

There's a thing I don't understand:

what's the need of Logic v 6.0 or 7...?

If you always worked with 4.x-5.x (or earlier) now you have:

128 audio tracks
24 audio instruments
emagic virtual instruments (exs...)
unlimited midi tracks
cpu optimization
dsp card delay compensation
Environment (!)
all those drivers including ASIO
mixer automation
native plug-ins
pow-r dithering algorythm
VST 2.0 support
....
(correct me if I'm wrong)
....

What do a *musician* need else?
-Maybe the merchandizing thing by apple with transparent icons...

Logic Audio 5 was designated the best sequencer at all this year, don't forget it!

OK, there's no future. But please tell me what else is needed. Let's see what we loose...
Anyone will make a list of features he really misses to make music?

Personally I think "Outdated" is somehow a lifestyle:

- I keep on using very old (and SMALL!!!) apps that always worked good as they were supposed to.

- I use a 440BX PIII who never had any prob, with Win ME completely revised by all that tweaking tricks discovered in these years and the system is very stable.
Also now I can say I know that OS and its behaviour very well. Have I to switch to XP which is at least 3 times havier and still not enough "tested"/well known?

- I use a soundcard with "outdated" DSPs, but the development of the software for those dsps hasn't yet got mature till now. Have I to change to a newer system waiting again for things getting mature?

The question is:

Do we want to make music taking all the available advantages we can?

or

do we want to be betatesters for the companies discovering the secrets of software tweaking?

Those are 2 different jobs. Choose what you like more.

BTW I still don't like that Emagic move, if you like PC Logic and emagic pc sw, consider buying all (good working) stuff you need from them before it's too late

Cheers,
Fede

The only thing missing in Logic as of NOW, is Multiple output for VST instruments and effects......

But afaik, the 5.2 version that is suppose to come before they completely abandon pc user is including this features....So since i don't like cubase at all (personnal opinion i know), i stick with Logic for a long times to come i think...

yeah, those jerks at apple still have the best thing going and they say that they will continue pc support and developement into the seeable future so i guess the best thing to do at the moment is nothing(unless you have $400 for sx and sonar, those are good deals).................................

Crossgrade to SX equals DOWNGRADE the soundquality of your system. Not for me...
I'll properly stay on LogicPC for a long time. At least until I get the chance (money) to upgrade my Protools Mix to a |HD.
Right now I'm testing a 933mHz G4 with a HD3, Scope and Logic|HD, and so far it seems to be the best of everything, except for the price offcourse
